A suit of armor is TECHNICALLY not clothing. It's armor. The person wearing the armor is also wearing clothing. And another point, by luck of balance the leg plates stood up when the guy was kicked out, regular pants wouldn't do that...
Now if Link could kick, lets say... Zelda out of her dress and throw that shit on, then I'm sold. (would also be funny as hell)
