Good One
Now before I start, rest assured this won't be a long review like my others... I couldn't make it long if I tried! =P
Now, joke flashes like this tend to be strongly hit-or-miss depending on how they're done and what they actually deliver instead, but this one I'd say actually manges to be middle-of-the-road in terms of actual humor because while it did indeed fool me (the icons always seem to trick me for these...), it didn't actually make me laugh like a few of the other joke flashes I've reviewed. That said, use of (remixed) Dungeon Man's theme from Earthbound was a unique touch and like most joke flashes the drama that comes from these is always the most amusing part (moreso than the flash itself, really).
Not much left for me to say since there isn't much to review, but I will say that although I respect your choice to discontinue this series, I say you should at least consider not giving up on sprites completely just yet. After all, it takes quite a lot of skill to use them effectively, and you've shown to have it in several of your pieces. It doesn't have to be with Sonic sprites of course, in fact it could even be with some fully custom ones if you wish to get creative. Sprite works are a medium all their own, and I'd hate to see someone with talent in the field give up on them, but I digress, it's entirely your choice. Either way, I'll continue to keep a close eye on your works and wish you luck in all your future ones.
