Style over substance?
If you liked Defcon, you'll probably like this. It's in a very similar style, eerie and impersonal. Pretty good.

not up to par with the last pandemic
i like the idea, i like the new options, but this one does NOT compare to the last pandemic
results are TOO RANDOM. i had to restart 15 times and i lost no matter which way i tried. the first time i played i had major luck - infected countries on the first try, airports, etc. then after 10 times of failing, i decided to test this "random luck" out
i upgraded my resistance
skipped like 8 turns
there were a couple places researching a cure up to 2/5 and maybe 3/5
got my infectivity up to 4 or 5, lethality and resistance to 2 or 3, and had like 10 points remaining
ALL 10 POINTS AND I COULD NOT INFECT AN AIRPORT
COULD NOT GET THE WATER
COULD NOT SPREAD IT FURTHER
COULD NOT ATTACK THE CURE!!!!!!!
everything in this game is far too randomly generated. nothing to do with difficulty or skill or gameplay, it is all completely random with the skill upgrades giving a minor +% in chance. also how come its +2 +2 +3 +2 +2 +2 ???? what happened to the bonus points for increasing the tolls?? im gonna go back to playing pandemic 1
OK, but a few points...
People have slagged this off for being hard and they are right it is hard, but name the last time a virus spread throughout the entire modernised world and killed everyone? Exactly ;p
I miss the more in depth upgrades from the original, I thought that added to the kind of atmosphere of the game, made it seem more serious.
I also miss the fact that the virus had a detecability rating. If your virus turned everyone to mush they saw it and shut down public transport. Makes sense.
The one thing I can say about the point system is you don't get enough points for infecting people/you shouldnt share points between upgrades and actions. It does make it a little too hard.
Other then that the graphics were good, its a lot more pleasing to the eye then before. The fact that seperate areas can cure themselves is a nice touch too.
Oh and for everyone struggling with this game, think like a virus. What type of virus is most likley to kill mankind? A fast spreading one.
Use your initial points to upgrade your infectivity, then fully infect the country you are in, then you'll find yourself with about 10 points, once you do, infect the country next to you, do the same. Keep doing that and the world will soon be full infected.
When it is take points off infectivity and slam them into lethality.
Enjoy!
didn't stand out...
this game had some features that would've made pandemic better, and pandemic had options that would've made this game better. what i missed was the option to choose the symptoms , vomiting, coughing, etc... also, the day limit was (in my opinion) better than the cure researched (1/5...) because you knew the time limit and could've taken that in mind with the choices you would make, although it's not bad, the original (in my opinion) was better, but don't let this discourage you to make more games!!!
it's a good game, but pandemic has put the bar very high, and pandemic: EoM didn't quite cut it. good game, but didn't hold up to the pandemic rep.
it was ok..
the others in the series were better. but this was a good attempt to change how you actually infect the world. the instructions weren't really good and could have more actual instructions on what the buttons mean.
