Reviews for "Super Mario bros Z ep 5 (old series)"

its pretty good

it was pretty good. i liked the idea of having mario and sonic mixed into one.

Quite the popular creation..

All right, okay. This has been done fifteen times before. Bring Sonic, Mario, Samus, Final Fantasy, and Megaman characters all together and then make a storyline that makes no sense. Except this one is extremely reasonable, realistic for that matter, and makes perfect sense.

Here's the breakdown of why it's a good combination parody movie:
1) The underuse of the Mobius (that what it's called?) world because they're in the Mushroom Kingdom world. It's so well-balanced.
2) The realism of the characters. This HAS to be mentioned. Has to. Sonic and Shadow were incredibly alike to what they should be. Mario and Luigi don't talk, but Peach and Bowser do. The author didn't run off with Nintendo and Sega's characters. They were exactly how they act in the game.
3) The style. Oh my god. If there's a more stylistic movie out there, I wouldn't be surprised at all, but I swear this has tons of style. It's in the style of Dragon Ball Z, yet doesn't include Goku or Vegeta, but still includes the 7 power sources. Awesome.
4) The emeralds. zmogitssocool. What the movie really does is shoots the influence and greed from the chaos emeralds into the Mushroom Kingdom, and sets the characters in the Mushroom Kingdom into motion, letting us see the characters and the Mushroom Kingdom in an entirely new light.
5) The action scenes. This is one of the things I look to most. It needs almost no improvement besides the improvement that will come of practicing. Sure, the fighting scenes could be a LOT better, but they're pretty fuggin' awesome still, and learning how to make fighting scenes is really, really hard.
6) How well-played the story is. The storyline is completely rounded for a combination parody, and the movies really set a really good pace for storyline.

I gave lowish marks, sorry. I gave sound 5 because the sound is kind of basic-ish, but can't really be improved all that much as far as I know, but still deserves a 5. The voices weren't that great, there's desire for more, but recording new voices would ruin its style. I found the sound was really a take-a-hit-for-the-team point. Getting better sound would be a double-edged sword. Graphics is 8 because the capes were horrible and there's still room for improvement on a few things. The Axem Rangers were really badly-done, sorry. They are awesome though. Style is 10, though, because I feel this is incredibly stylistic, and there is pretty much no room for improvement on the style, I have to say.

Overall, honestly, this is one of the 3-4 series I keep track of religiously. Keeping in mind, you know, the fight scenes could be more planned and free, the capes are horrendously bad, and there is no supported reason why exactly Smithy caught the chaos emerald in the first place, this is the best combination parody I've seen.

-Jared Todd. I'm awaiting the next episode religiously!
