This is the greatest Mario Flash series ever.
With this flash, you've expanded your already-good series to an entire storytelling world. You're one of the select few creative geniuses with the talent, inspiration, and devotion to pull off something so grand.
I love the innumerable references to all the various Mario games, especially the super smash-inspired action styles. I was watching this with my brother, and we were discussing it throughout...
"Five Yoshis? Sounds like the Axem Rangers."
"Nah, it couldn't be them, that'd be too hard to make sprites for..."
"OMG! It IS them! This is so awesome!"
Were those Axem sprites custom made? That must have taken a lot of work.
The humor is very witty, I kept cracking up.
I honestly can't think of anything you can do better other than continue the way you've been going. The only thing might be when the camera zooms in, the pixellation gets a little extreme. Not such a big deal, but... meh.
I'd also like to express how much I disagree with another Newgrounds member's previous review:
The Axem Rangers X don't have hair. They have CAPES! (aka Mega Man X inspired?) Watch how they wave in the wind and you can tell. And even if he did want to give them hair, that's his own style, leave him alone!
There's plenty of action. The story in this is excellent too, WAY better than your usual DBZ plotline. Please don't change anything about your story-to-action ratio. Besides, story is less work-intensive than action. I'd rather have 5 minutes of story and humor and 1 minute of action than 1.2 minutes of action.
The re-use of sounds is his STYLE.
Sonic = Goku and Shadow = Vegeta because this is a DBZ parody! Luigi is comic relief because that's his role in life! The last thing I want to see is all the main characters being identical and perfect in every way. OOC > monotony. The consistent and varied characterization is definitely one of this series' strong points.
It's hard to be "consistent" when the Chief Yoshi sprite he wants to use happens to NOT EXIST in any SNES game...
Eagerly looking forward to episode 6, but don't feel pressured or anything... this was definitely worth the wait. Take all the time you need.
