Reviews for "Swords and Sandals 2"

Great but frustrating

This game is one of many that can easily cause someone to lose their patience. The first time I played it I was beaten in the second match by a lvl 2 with full brigand armor and a dirk. If that was not enough to make me clench the desk so hard I got splinters in me, the lack of a save system was. I finally beat the second guy and received +1119 gold, which, would seem like a considerable amount. However, it turns out that a full suit of armour costs at least 10,000 if you buy the peasant armour. I could deal with that if the prices were more balanced: 30 or so gold to buy boots, 50 for greaves, 200+ for shinguards(?), 4000 for chest piece (wtf, where did this figure come in?), and 2000 for gauntlets (shouldn't they be less expensive than greaves?). Even disheartening as it is, these are only the tip of the icebergs in a tragic story of glitches and frustrating restarts. I swear, if I had to click click click through the character creation and opening fights one more time, I was going to scream. I don't even want to describe the rest of the problems, they just sadden me more.

So--let's get on with the good.

Graphics: Great, even though they were the same old ones from before. The armour was an ostensible skin over the same old body, however the armor would sometimes cover too little, appearing offset. There were other glitches too, such as seeing the loincloth over the armour. Over all they were pretty pleasing to look at, nothing to make me gag.

Style: Same old RPG formula, nothing new here.

Sound: The music, though humorous at times, quickly got on my nerves. However, for the sake of the review, I had to leave the volume up. Some sound glitches: overlapping music when a boss of the arena is defeated and leveling up music comes on. Decent clarity overall.

Violence: Great violence.

Interactivity: It's a game, what do you expect? Lucky for you I don't include the opening paragraph in this score.

Humor: meh. The crowd pleaser trick wasn't funny at all. The only time it made me laugh was when the retarded AI did a trick when I had my psychic focus powered up all the way.

Overall: Not much of an improvement. Some of the new features like the duel and tournament system were better, but most just haven't improved.

Yes, I liked it; to some extent anyway. I think the thing that annoyed me about this game was getting to the end of the second tourney and having to read the "Buy this Game" message. Seriously, If any money is moved around it won't be in your favor for all the bandwidth this is probably costing you.

Fun but unbalanced

Charisma is far too unbalanced. Pumping it up to level 25 gives aroudn 60 damage per use.

Doesn't load.

I've been sitting here for five minutes, and it still says it's Loading Game Info. Sorry, but I just don't have time to wait for this thing any longer.

Anyway, assuming that this game is the like first, it's unique and interesting but not really (in my opinion) all that much fun. That's just a matter of personal taste, though. These games are certainly well-made, and I know people have enjoyed playing them.

If a game is good enough, I don't think there's anything wrong with charging for a full version. I'd never post a game online that you couldn't complete or save, of course, but having another version with higher quality sound and graphics, more characters, battles and weapons, etc. for a small price is perfectly reasonable. Games like this aren't exactly easy to make, and there's nothing wrong with seeking a little compensation for your time and effort.

hrmph

Great game but since it's a demo version I cannot review the full game I'll give what I saw a 7!

This game was really enjoyable at the time, and it still is. But it kind of gets a bit repetitive with the only thing being first blood battles and tournaments. This version isn't the full one, which is why I suggest the full version as well.
