Reviews for "Albuquerque: THE MOVIE"
Hey there.
Well, it seems like you respond to long reviews, so here goes.
First I'm answering a few questions I believe YOU had.
1Q) Why did no one else make a music video of this song?
1A) I'm surprised you didn't get this yourself. The song is 11 1/2 MINUTES LONG! Not many flash animators have the patience to make anything that long, to compress it under 10 megs, and then submit it to websites while making little or no profit all the while. And for that a congratulate you. Also, there was a music vid of this, as you yourself reviewed called Albuquerque, but it was incomplete as you know.
2Q) Why/How is this No. 1?
2A) For many reasons. Primarily, a flash sometimes soars to the No. 1 spot and then falls, like Tactile Assasin. It even happened to The Ultimate Showdown, even if it took 6 months. Doubtless the same will happen here, probably in less then a month. Being the No. 1 for a short period of time is just a mark that your flash is very good, not ground-breaking.
3Q) [In accordance to your commentary] Where did the hermaphrodite flying away in the umbrella come from?
3A) I'd guess Mary Poppins. I also liked that bit because it showed humor that you orchestrated, not just the song showed.
Alright, now the actual review.
Graphics- 8. Constant tweens and and simple sybol changing, but what can you expect from an 11 1/2 minute flash? And, like you said there was some very noce FBF in there, like the weasel scene.
Style- 10. This was, possibly, the best style to fit a song I've ever seen. Cartoony, but not to the level of tumor-inducing, while still not being to serious. Nice job.
Sound- 10. A song. Not many ways to lower its quality without making the whole thing less entertaining, is there? Just a little hint for commentaries though. They always get boring, even in professional DVDs, so no worries. But try explaining why you chose this song above others, the process you went through, and all that jazz (did I actually write that?!).
Violence- 6. Some blood, some gore, a score.
Interactivity- 9 (as far as movies go). The special features *wink wink* that I saw (2 of 'em. Are there more?) were funny and well down for flash.
Humor- 4. I full well expect that some later reviewer my flame me for this, but the humor was not yours. It was in the song. Some laughable moments belonged to you, like the umbrella thing above, but you didn't think of what to say, just how to animate it. But, by those grounds, you weren't attempting much humor anyway.
Overall- 8. Nicely done. nothing to explain here since I said it all above.
Back to ranting. I hope that you, in addition to music videos, do an original series or 2, because it looks as if you have some prowess in humor.
I have no real idea how you synchronized it so well for an 11 1/2 minute song, but you did.
This really should have been frontpaged longer (I feel). Bad Tom!
Anyways, I've seen worse get best of the month, so you may get it, assuming no absolutely kick-A movies like Adam Phillips or something pops up.
To wrap it all up in a nutshell, you have skill that can some day turn into something that really WILL occupy the top 50 for a long time. The score of this flash has been going down since it hit number 1. It's below 4.24 now, so it'll fall off tomorrow. But being in the Top 50 at all is still supa cool. :D
Way too many tweens and simple symbol changing, I know. Fixing that for next time for sure. Keep in mind this is like my first real flash.
I didn't put really put any effort into the commentary at all. :P It was just supposed to be an amusing little easter egg for you to find.
I managed to get it to sync by changing the audio compression from mp3 to APDCM.
Oh yeah, and the comics on my website just suck.

I remember hearing the song way back when and just couldn't quite picture it all in my head (and thus didn't enjoy the song as much). Thanks for making this, it makes a lot more sense now.
