great game
hey Great game man thanks for uploading
Cheat Code.
When you're at the main page where it says play, hold on to Spacebar and type in "patinate" and if you hear a dog bark, it means that it worked.
You get a golden pistol that kills everything in one hit.
Really good, a few problems
This is one of the better action-oriented defense games I've played on the site. Most of the games of this genre I've played at NG so far (IMO) have had overpriced upgrades and/or the difficulty steeped upward too quickly. You have reasonably priced upgrades and your difficulty starts extremely easy and has a gentle, regular upward slope into the insane difficulty. It gives the player a lot of time to figure out how to be a bad ass in your game without having to get bent over and raped first. (But hey, some people like a game that bends them over. To each his own, I guess.)
One thing that really surprised me about the game--but that I actually really liked--is that there is no reload on most of the weapons. The nailgun and tractor have respective recharges, but for most of the weapons, if you've got the ammo, you can fire away endlessly. I spent a lot of the game learning how to go apeshit with the pistol to make the most of that maximum ammo. So that was kinda fresh. I liked that. Never played one of these games without having to mess around with reload. That was enjoyable. (Maybe not realistic, but fun. Too many games are blemished by the assumption that realism = fun.)
Oh, and BOSSES?! Very nice!
A few things did bother me about the game, though, which is why I docked the two points.
1) The hit detection on the vultures (I think they were vultues? The ones that kamikaze your wall?) seemed kinda wonky to me. I was playing on the lowest quality setting on a high speed internet connection, but for some reason I could only swat the vultures down about half the time. Sometimes I would hit them with a single shot from the pistol and they'd go right down. Other times I'd follow them clear across the screen, locked in with the crosshair, clicking like crazy, and they'd just fly and fly without a care in the world. Couldn't quite figure out what was going on there.
2) Same deal with the deer cannon in the later levels. I was a little harumphed about it when it was first introduced, because there is so much other shit happening on the ground that the reaction time you need to respond to the deer cannon seems a bit extreme. Either you'll happen to be ready out of sheer luck, or you'll happen to not be ready, in which case you'll just make up for it in wall repairs. But even when I was ready to intercept the deer-missile, I had the same problem as with the vultures---sometimes my hits were detected instantly, sometimes not at all.
I assume both of these result from some kind of lag, but I mention it just in case. It did have a large impact on my game.
3) Sentry guns. Awesome. Tremendously helpful. But for $2000 bucks, and only 100 shots and then left with no gun at all... seems kinda steep. Most of the ammo is spent on rabbits and geese, which is pointless if you have the dog anyway. They feel like they are almost a great buy... but I wanted a little bit more. I think it would be better if the sentry guns had a little bit more ammo (maybe 200?) or if they only targeted the bigger game, ignoring the rabbits and geese. They also didn't seem to even try to help with the vultures and deer-missiles at all, which is also disappointing, as that would make them more worth the $2000 as well.
4) Made it all the way to the upper 30's and then I got the bug where the game ends early and an animal attacks my wall offscreen. Instant game over, all progress lost. I know you're aware of this one, but I can't just ignore it. Only a small demerit, since I'm sure it will be fixed as soon as the guilty code is found.
Overall, excellent game. Really enjoyed this. =]
very good
oh and guys... beat the game... and you get a code to the best gun evah...
