A friend sent me this link, so I checked it out.
This game is pretty good. I normally don't like flash games too much because I find them boring, repetitive, etc etc. But this one was different. The second I read 'Super Smash Flash', I was thinking "Nice." After a bit of playing, I got used to the controls. I have found nothing too bad about the game, but I shall list the good and bad.
THE GOOD:
Characters - Wow. 28 characters like in SSBM! Some choices for players were rather odd, but made it interesting.
Music/Sound - SSBM favorites were put in! I'd go against the sounds because of that annoying female announcer voice, but I won't, since the real announcer is hard to rip.
Levels: The levels were better than most I've seen *COUGHSUPERSMASHXCOUGH*, so you get extra points. But I have to take away some. You'll see why soon.
Moves: Pretty creative, and most were good. But we'll have more on this soon.
Gameplay: Very nice work. No game-ruining flaws. But there are a few flaws that will be discussed now.
THE BAD:
Characters - As I said before, the character choices were interesting, but one thing sort of killed it for me. I've never liked anime, and seeing two anime characters, rather, two of the most overrated and over hyped characters ever made me a little irritated, but I got over it quickly. And by quickly, I mean pretty much instantly, although I feel Mewtwo could've been made to suck much less.
Music/Sound: I won't hold the announcer thing against you, so let's go to the other things. Too many sounds were recycled, and I felt it was pretty repetitive. As for music, Green Hill Zone's theme got VERY annoying VERY fast. Especially when I first played this game. I'd die twice before making it to the end of the 'Race To The Finish' stage.
Levels: I said the levels were creative, and they were. But there were two that were VERY annoying. The first, and most annoying IMHO (In My Humble Opinion), being the "Floating Islands" stage. You could be two-thirds of the way up to the top, and then all of a sudden you get hit by a bee or that freaky fly thing or the fat green thing, and you fall. And you fall. And you fall, and you fall, and you fall. ALL the way back down to the bottom, through all non-solid platforms. The other one is annoying because unless you're like, Fox, you're going to get hit. A LOT. Fox has that Fox Illusion (Attack + Left/Right) move, so he's safe while going fast. Annoying nonetheless.
Moves: Kirby had a rather poor move set, IMHO. You could've used the Smash ability sprites from Amazing Mirror for Kirby, yet you didn't. Meta Knight could be much better as his own seperate character. Imagine the irony of your foe about to finish you off, just for you pull out that energy twister attack of death (Kirby Super Star/Amazing Mirror) and blow him away. Mewtwo's attacks just.. they suck. They suck is what it is. But I don't think it's my right to complain about your choices, although it's constructive criticism.
Gameplay: Okay, here are the bad things: Glitches. These glitches are few, but one of them is the worst thing since Mizar's Electric Jump Rope Attack of Death (Mizar being from Jet Force Gemini.) Fox's Blaster doesn't hurt the hands (this could've been intentional, but I'm assuming otherwise, so correct me if I'm wrong about this.) Another - well, not really a glitch, but it's kind of annoying anyway - is that the game is S-L-O-W. Really slow. Chances are this is from the file's size, but irritating nonetheless. The final thing is the worst thing ever. This glitch occurs during the Master Hand and Crazy Hand fight in Adventure Mode. Crazy Hand can glitch you THROUGH the arena and down to your death with no way out of it. This has happened to me twice. The first is when he punched downward upon me from above, and the second was when he did that strange, slow slap-sprite move. This can kill you faster than Educational Television.
In Conclusion: The game is VERY fun and I recommend it to fans of the Super Smash series. Keep up the good work.
