Whoa. Just... whoa.
Now this was impressive! I've seen a couple of suggestions for a SSB game, but I never thought someone would actually do it. For that matter, I never thought they'd include so many of the original features! Excellent sound (even the announcer was pretty good, which was surprising), nice choices of characters and stages, pretty good graphics considering you used sprites, easily understandable gameplay, and excellent idea overall. Wow.
Now, don't get me wrong... it wasn't perfect by any means. For one thing, you should work on the game physics. The characters slide around far too easily on the ground, and there were some glitches with characters falling into the ground itself. (I noticed this on the Mario Bros. 2 stage, where they could go beneath the ground while falling through the waterfall.) Most notable, however, was the tutorial. Simply put, once you began it you had no way of exiting it except by reloading the game. You need to create a way to end that mode.
Overall, though, this was surprisingly good. Work on those few areas of concern, and you'll have an astoundingly strong game. Very nice!
Awsome flash game but needs a few shiners.
Okay i've played the Super Smash Brothers serires. So when I see this I go yeah this might be cool. Turly it is addictive and entertaining. I can understand how hard it must be to create a perfect game without a cracker jack team of real game personal but it truly is an amazing attempt. Some commets though.
Character animation is a little stiff, trying to attack feels awkward to say the least. Mapping everything to the o and p buttons feel's alright but executing moves seem difficult to execute. No grab moves, or recovery attacks a real shame. AI seem questionablely...dumb. Music and sound effects were nice but i'm used to the male announcer. Trying to replicate the real game was incrediable, my only suggestion would be to refine the art, either that or rip off the game entirely. What i'm soarly dissapointed in, no online play. But then again it would probably be a nightmare to run something like that. All and all....I got to get back to the game. 8 out of 10.
Nice concept...
But really needs to be fixed. The characters are sent flying WAY to easily, all i had to do to win classic with zelda was press down-attack and just keep pressing Up+P. Also, pikachu's down attack is overrated, in SSBM, it stops at platforms, but YOU made it just as powerful and it DIDN'T stop at platforms. Controls were weird, try using A and S instead of O and P. Last thing, QUALITY!!! There wasn't a quality change button, you need one in EVERY GAME. I was lagging like hell playing as pikachu against link, one second hes next to me, slashing, the next, GAME! Anyway, good concept, just needs a bit more work.
Noble concept, but broken to hell.
Ok, I have a few problems with this game. it's not like I don't like the concept of a fan based Smash bros game, but honestly, playing this game long enough makes me froth for SSBB even more. first, I should menchon that I hate the controls. it feels really awkward to me Button-mapping, or if possible, Controller support woulda been a plus. also, I feel the characters are really broken, in both balance and the one-button attack mechanism. for example, I found it easy to cheeze my way though with mario's Fireball, but I ended up frustrated over the Kirby/Metaknight switch attack, espessially during the third stage in adventure, a bunch of whatever-they-ares surrounding me, and both Kirby's transform move and my discomfort to the controls practically forced me to close the window. The girl narrator is ok, but it just doesn't compare to the big booming voice of god in the console games. I can go on and on. I will say this again though, it is a good concept, a great game idea. a lot more polish woulda made a fan game shine into internet immortality. Snakes on a Plane - the video game.
