Reviews for "Throwback the Duck Ep. 0"

you sir, earned my respect.

Make more man, seriously. Do a little research on the game characters of yore, and so a little movie (like you did here) about it all! I'd like to know what happened to the original "Jumpman" (yes i know he's mario now, but why did they change the name and such?) or other characters. Anyhoo, I'd like to see more of this eventually. you might just hit the front page again!

Interesting

A job well done. I like it a lot, its original, and the 80's references are awesome. Keep on making episodes.

Very impressive.

Graphics wise, I haven't seen better looking animation since the creator of Bitey of Brackenwood and Growlies at the River sumbitted those to the Newgrounds audience. I think, if the upcoming episodes are as good as this one was, you might be able to give Mr. Phillips/Chulaid a run for his money.

Style, I liked the style. I think this series has a great storyline, albiet the fact that I might be a tad bit biast, seeing as I'm a huge Nintendo fanboy. I think all the references to Nintendo character past and present, if done well, could make this the next big series on Newgrounds, following in the footsteps of Retarted Animal Babies, Nuerotically Yours and Salad Fingers.

Sound, I know a lot of people think that the voice acting could be a lot better, judging by a lot of the reviews I've read thus far, but I disagree with a lot of those comments, because the main character is, in fact, a duck. Ducks in animation have a history of sounding mumbly and quiet and I feel they made a wise descision by following suit. I also enjoyed a lot of the song choices.

Violence, I didn't really see much violence, other than when Throwback got pissed that he was losing his job, and took his frustration out on the mop.

Interactivity, other than the play button and the main menu selection buttons, there really wasn't any. However, this holds true for almost every submission on this website, and really isn't that important unless you're making a game.

Humor, the flash had its moments, like the whole scene with the Power Glove where they make reference to "The Wizard", and the scene where the representative from Nintendo talks to Throwback's original owners, and the aformentioned scene with Throwback and the mop. That was a really blatant run-on sentence. That was also a pretty unfortunate sentence fragment. Anyways, I don't think the flash really relied (I also can't spell now, great) on humor like most of the flashes on this site do, I think it relied more on story, which is a good thing, and something we need to see more of around here.

Overall, this was a great flash, and if everything turns out well, here's hoping it does, this could turn out to be a series akin to the others that made this site so popular in the first place. I think it has the potential, and let's hope the people making it have the ability.

Total average would be 6.8 rounded up to 7, but I think this is going places, so I'm going to give it an 8.

Top animation

Top quality animation, slick and nicely put together, nice interaction with the music and everything. Only let down by the mumbling voiceover of the duck. Pity.

These graphics will make you drop to your knees...

...and make start chanting "I'm not worthy, im not worthy". the sound of this movie is crystal clear. no part of the movie did it get fuzzy like most flash movies.it could have done with some better writing though and some more action but those are the only two flaws in the show.enjoy!
