Reviews for "StarCraft: Alliance"

With more work they can be perfect

Log, I don't know if you will read this but what you have set out to do packs a lot of potential. I've been a StarCraft fan for years and I like that people are still devoting time to make spinoffs out of it. Here are some points you might want to consider for your next animantion:

1) Original StarCraft music: Self-explanatory, it creates a StarCraft-ese atmosphere that cannot be reached with anything else.

2) Louder explosions: when huge spaceships go boom they usually go big ;)

3) Wraiths in the SC cutscenes make a turbojet-like sound, which is cool. I know. realistically no sound can travel in space (no medium), but for the sake of pure SC, just add a jet scream sound for the Terran Wraiths.

4) Again, based on the SC original game cutscenes, the Wraiths attack with lasers instead of missiles (although their only air attack ingame is missiles). Maybe you could combine both! Avter all, modern fighter planes have both guns and missiles to shoot with.

5) Battlecruisers have multiple gun turrets. If you think about it, its is easy to make a gun turret shoot out to nowhere and keep it as stock footage (you can use it multiple times over for intense battles).

6) Blood and Splatter

That's all. The easiest and most effective improvement should be the sound/music sector; all the rest can fall in line later. I hope I helped you out and good luck on your next animation.

7) Give it a more serious tone (humor every now and then is good though)

LogFish responds:

Yea well I put a big laser on the wraiths and never used it which was upsetting - they get used later though heh. Thanks for your ideas, they're really handy - cheers!

Can't wait till the fourth one.

I love it. My favorite character is the yellow injantry dude. I forgot his name. I Suggest that you put the names of whoever is talking in the subtitles. That makes it easier.

LogFish responds:

His name's Baker - yellow's close enough heh. Glad you're liking them thanks for the review!

MAD

This is an cool flash.WEll im a big fan of starcraft. this is cool.
You are the corn that keeps poping.

LogFish responds:

That is the finest compliment of all time - cheers! :)

Steadily improving...

Another excellent piece of work, Log. Your persistence and dedication to this project are really starting to pay off.

Firstly, your graphics look much nicer. The faces.. they actually look human! :) Your other drawings are equally strong, and your cinematography are strong as ever; the cuts, the pans, it's all there. Loved the cameos by the SCV, Arbiter, and Scarab Beetle. I will admit, though, your animation still could use a little work. Your fights between Jones and the zelaot, as well as Odyseum and the Zerg could have been a bit more fluid... I'm no animator, but perhaps more frames per second can help? Your space battles work out well, though. Great moment: Watching the Wraith fly past the Battlecruiser as it went up in flames.

The sound usage again definitely lends to the feeling that this could be something from the StarCraft world. Again, I said it before, and I just might touch on nagging you about it, but: voice acting, voice acting, voice acting! : ) But I will compliment you on your background music. It lends to the mood without taking too much credit or feeling like it was an afterthought.

A note on interactivity: Loved the interface! Skipping to scenes, and the "Skip plot" buttons were clutch.

You're improving on your comic delivery, and that's great. It still needs tweaking (At least from an American standpoint), however. The glaring issue was when Sarge drove the transport into the ground. I felt that was rushed. Like, it should have rammed the ground, paused, cut to the Sarge saying the line, then taking off again. The other deliveries were quite solid, though.

Overall, you continue to impress. I can't wait to see how the Alliance works its way out of this one!

LogFish responds:

Thanks again :) Yea, when I get started on the next episode I mean to put much more effort into the animation - I have kind of 'cheated' up till now, just panning everything instead of having to animate anything - in the next episode I mean to have arms flailing and whatnot. Take note, see whether I do it or not heh. Glad you liked that particular shot - when I think out the episodes there's certain shots that come to mind that everything is kinda anchored around, and that was one of them! Thought it'd look pretty cool :)

Glad you enjoyed this one as well, hopefully the next won't disapoint!

U r good

Its great need i say more?
