10/10
I greenly tend to stray away from reviewing older games because of a few reasons. Firstly, the program and equipment and limits where different when the game was made. This was Flash 3, as you stated, so it's really hard to tell how good this game was for its time. The other problem about reviewing older submissions is that the author is much better and it's nearly pointless to offer criticism. I'm reviewing this piece though because it's a historic piece of Newgrounds.
The artwork was really clean and constant. In other words, everything matched. The background, the characters, it all looked consistent and good. I loved how the characters expressed their emotions, especially Pico. The artwork was addicting to look at and always fun. Probably one of the best parts about Pico's School.
The music was the only thing that really bothered me, I actually had to turn down my speakers because it was the same annoying loop. Again, I realize that this was made 11 years ago so access to music probably wasn't at it's best.
I also really enjoyed the animation. By 1999's standards the animation was actually pretty good, with the exception of the blood squirting out, which I think was you being sarcastic anyways. The animation was a little choppy at times, but understandable for the era in animation that it comes from. Really nice.
I did have a few problems that really don't apply to it being an older game. I understand that you had some problems while transferring this game, but there were several instances where the game glitched. One time I didn't receive a few medals and had to redo them. On two instances when I died the Pico wasn't anywhere on the screen, but it was fixable by going to the left or to the right. At one point, I couldn't use my items and it said "Cinema Mode" when it wasn't suppose to. I could access my items but had to click in the Cinema Mode box.
All in all this game is a masterpiece regardless of some minor difficulties. It's bound to happen when you try to rewire a 7 year old game. This game is really addictive and a true memorable piece of work for Newgrounds. Thank you for re-uploading this. I know the ongoing joke about the release date of Pico 2, but I sincerely do look forward to playing it if it ever comes out.
