It has actually been 21 years since the original release! It was before the publishing system we launched in 2000.
Um excuse me, i think medals don't work, i don't got any of them.

What browser and OS are you using? We switched Pico over to Ruffle yesterday, where it is now running without the Flash plugin. The latest Ruffle update works with medals and we've confirmed people have continued to unlock them. Could you try a Shift+Refresh of the page and try again, playing up to the point where you can shoot the punk in the hallway? Do it twice so it says "BRUTAL!" and you should see the medal pop-up. Let me know if it works or not on the second try!
