The One That Started It All
Seeing as this is will be my 100th review, I've decided to head back to review an old classic that not only began the awesome Metal Gear Awesome series and its various parodies, but also inspire me to finally make a NG Gold Account and beging reviewing flashes and music. This may not ssem like much to some of you Newgrounders, but this is a milestone for me and I want to celebrate it the way I want to...even if this specific review never sees the light of day due to all the 'insert quote here' one sentence comments that flood all the popular submissions, nevertheless this one.
Alrighty then, now let's start the official review:
If you have seen Metal Fin Awesome before this one, allow me to smack the crap out of you and then also explain that this is basically the same thing as that, except fishes and water are replaced with people and good ol' land...that is if you can call it that. Egoraptor isn't known to being the best artists in the business, and this is his earlier works, so his drawings and animation here are a little sluggish, although this kind of fits the whole quick parody theme well. Of course some scenes display better quality than others, but vice-versa can be said about other scenes. It's also kind of hard to read those white texts after some sneaking around so I have to wait until the end of the flash to be able to attempt reading it again since there's no pause button, as one can tell I could get quite annoyed by this.
Where Arin Hanson isn't known to be the Leonardo Da Vinci in the club, Egoraptor is indeed one of the best in the other side of the department: Voice Acting, and this movie doesn't display otherwise if not prove it to others. Each character is voiced extremely well and ranged perfectly thanks to some help from Kagome and Aron (Or whatever it's spelled), especially the legendary Solid Snake. The voice crew behind this didn't go for accuracy in this parody, they went for sheer hilarity and sometimes character degrading. It might make Hideo Kojima laugh extremely hard, or commit suppuku. Either way, Hideo is at risk of losing an organ or too.
As for story, this is by no means original. If one ever played Metal Gear Solid, then you get this flash which only displays the first part of the game; plain and simple. If a person ever saw any of the classic 'Naked Gun' movies, they'll basically combine that with MGS to get this parody. It's just a parody that shouldn't be taken into offense for inaccuracy more for vulgarity if they're the protesting type. The ending however is somewhat original as it explains that the point of view isn't of Solid Snake, but of the player playing the game and finding all the faults of the game...and then getting shot by his friend for messing with Colonel.
Overall this is one of the funniest things I have ever seen being only one of the few that left me literally rolling on the floor laughing by the end. It's no wonder so many attempts have been made to import this to Youtube. This should be spread all over the web under Ego's flag, so that the whole world can laugh, cry, and start flame wars over it for years to come. Lets just hope those flame wars won't involve super-weapons anytime soon.
