Reviews for "Blockhead: Episode 4"

Not my nuts again

Kill it with fire!!!

made me feel better

you know it made me feel better after watching some other idiot ruin a perfectly good band. You made me laugh your original and your humor hits my spot. Although for some reason i diddnt enjoy the beginning when you showed the church water painting looking thing it really made me....I dunno but I diddnt like it sorry I mean I really cant think of a reason I diddnt like that picture....but ya good job dude.

Another nicely made movie.

I like your stuff, your style and humour are really good. Keep 'em coming, you've established a fan base!

Woot, you've gained your audience

On your own! Good job, the flash was quite funny; I like random humor. BTW you kinda made an error at the beginning, the cloud over the moon went over the house. . . you gotta check that. . . Any way, try lowering the audio quality :P, it's far too high, making the flash too heavy for its length and animation. Well great job dude!

The-Swain responds:

If you can see the cloud flying over the house, then you should lower the brightness of your monitor :) Actually, I knocked down the audio quality to 60-something bitrate (you can tell by the chalky quality of the theme song playing at the end) and still got 4.5 megs, so I may have to investigate how I ended up with such a large file. But I'm glad you liked it, and I'm happy you took the time to write your review - thanks!

You're one of my favorite artists

Great flash and the best sound you could get (In my opinion). Is it compressed? And what's the deal with the tongs? Obsession, or mere sillyness on his part?

Graphics - I read some of your responses and suprised that you don't recycle your drawings, bonus points for that. I also enjoyed how he looks like he is not from this world, but his conscience is human looking. And I do agree with others, he has an amazing resebleance to Karl or Carl. He is mildly depressed and a gruff low New Jersey accent and overweight, for the most part - 9

Style - Very original style, you don't see many flashes where the protagonist (Antagonist in my opinion) is extremely low in the mental area, very imaginative is he not? Doing stupid deeds, and being stupid in general, though his conscience doesn't help one bit - 8 - I think you need more main characters for more flexibility or more variety.

Sound - Crystal clear, very funny vocals - 10

Violence - Violence is almost non-existant here, except him blowing his brains and the tongs - 2

Interactivity - Movie, not a game - 0

Humor - I loved the humor, from Blockhead spitting all over the psychiatrist to him slapping that woman with the tongue (Which by the way left me in stitches, funniest thing I have yet to see) - 7

Overall you are an excellent flash artist and in my personal opinion, television quality. Halloween spirit is always nice, brings the best in people.... Except razorblades in the chocolate!

Vesper

P.S. Before I forget, Happy Halloween!

The-Swain responds:

I've always thought that my 'New York' accent was more inspired by J.B's "Frank Rizzo" from The Jerky Boys...the insurance salesman character is almost directly reflective of his "Sol Rosenberg" character, too. The similarity to Karl is unfortunately incidental, as Karl is a great character on his own and thus casts a very large shadow over the original character I am trying to write.

And you're right about the protagonist thing - I can only go so far with the Conscience calling Blockhead an idiot before it stops being funny. That's why I tend to involve a lot of one-shot external characters with whom Blockhead can interact (you'll notice that the Conscience never interrupts Blockhead when he's talking to someone else). In my original concept for the series, I had invented a P.I. character to hunt down and study Blockhead. He was the only one in the world who seemed to realize that Blockhead is not human in any way and was determined to bring him down. But, like you said, Blockhead is almost the antagonist of the series, which makes an external antagonist kind of unnecessary. So I scrapped em'.

All the same, it's good that the episode inspired you to write such a thorough review; I'll make certain to keep track of your comments when I am planning for future episodes. Thanks!
