Reviews for "Battle for Gondor"

Good game, needs work tho

Great concept, but it's the same thing over and over, and you do nothing in battle but earn a few coins, could be a great game

its kind of dumb but anyway! it still has war!

u can make it better if u want

No Depth

The flaw hands down for this flash game is simply depth. While it exceeds in graphic and sound quality, this is not a game in which you'll find yourself hard pressed making quick decisions and hard choices.

The game is set up like so. You play as some unnamed hero who's supposed to lead an army that never exceeds 20 units. The gameplay is simple, too simple. All your troops move in one straight line on the battlefield and proceed to kill anything the orcs are sending. All the fighting takes place on that one line. But what does your hero do the entire time this takes place? Said unnamed hero stays on the upper area of the screen and kills wandering peons. That's it, he never fights at all in the entire game minus the final level (which is laughably easy).

But how do you get more troops? Every kill from your troops gives you gold which you can use to get more troops. Of course, you can only get a certain number of a type of troop. You can never have more that 2 soldiers for example. Your only real difficulty is deciding whether you want the elf or the knight...

That's all there is to it. The only skill is seeing how fast you can click the little buttons to make more troops. The game all throughout is easy. The only difficulty comes around level 13 in which you fight tough "boss" units and only have a bunch of wimpy soldiers. Ultimately, this causes the game to be based more on luck in hoping that the movement of all the units will somehow allow them to stick together instead of streaming and getting killed.

The graphics and style are nice. No complaints here. The song gets a little repetive though. But no amount of graphics can change the gameplay.

Overall, there just doesn't seem to be enough in this game to make it feel like every level is a hard fight than can only be won through skill and determination. The peon killing feels more like a chore rather than a game-turning event.

Alright

It wasn't bad, the graphics and animation were good, and thats why i give it 5. My main problem with it though was you couldn't fight the battle yourself, which meant sometimes, you could be killing every enemy that you had,but you would lose the battle anyway, becuase you couldn't afford enough men.

Also, it had nothing to do with LOTR. The narrative talked about the places and people, but when your'e playing, it looked nothing like LOTR, for example, knights of Rohan in full plate armour? But thats just nitpicking.

Overall, well mde, but i think it could have been better. What it really needs is for you to be able to fight the battles yourself, and give you oppertunities to upgrade your character.

ok...

the games not bad but it gets a little bit boring after a while
