I really enjoyed that. i like how you were able to convey your point without beating it over the viewer's head.
On a constructive criticism note: by not drawing in eyes and always having the hair cover it, it is giving off a feeling that u are unable to draw eyes and therefore trying to hide that fact. im not sure if u did that for a certain reason, but u may want to try giving ur characters eyes, it adds a much more emotional depth to the character.

I can tell you were taking the "easy" way out with the faces. I do this a lot in my comics. If I could I try not to draw the faces and replace it with long hair, a hat, shadows, etc. But trust me, in the long run you'll have to learn how to make faces. I know they're hard, but you can express so much more emotion with faces and that adds a lot to something emotional like this
