Reviews for "Overrun II"

uuhhh....

this game wasn't the wort game i ever played on this site..but its definatly not the best. you might add better graphics to it.. especially gun fire graphics, and gun graphics..the "monsters" in the game were pretty lame too...kinda dumb things to shoot at buuut...whatever floats your boat.

Denvish responds:

Yes

Well-balanced sit-and-spin shmup.

Graphics: Some of the busier backgrounds make spotting distant targets difficult at first, but once the creeps get close, it's certainly not a problem to see their clean, simple lines as they close in for the kill. Color-coding the radar pips was an excellent idea, letting the player know whether to aim for the skies or the horizon.

Style: Good retro arcade look and feel. Fair match of firepower to
opposition. Making Shockwave and Smart Bomb worth fewer points encourages actual aiming and shooting, but it's nice to have an out if the crush of creeps presses in too closely! Crediting the loop authors at the start of each level was a very nice touch as well.

Sound: Repetitive electronica works well enough for a shooter like this. The death sounds were appropriate (loved the bird squawk) and the gun, Shockwave, and Smart Bomb sounded nicely blasty.

Violence: Good clean Blowing Stuff Up type of violence, with no unneccesary gore. Bring your kids!

Interactivity: Crisp controls are a plus in a frenetic shmup, and this game has 'em.

Humor: The death animations for the birds and flying saucers were amusing.

Overall: Good, clean way to get a BSU Fix, and with the save feature, you don't have to do a game all at once. Nice work on all accounts!

Problem: I completed the game on Hard mode (yes, that's my score currently in 2nd place) and wasn't able to access Crazy mode afterwards. Bummer.

Denvish responds:

Amazing review, thanks for that. And I'm really sorry that Crazy didn't unlock, try reloading the game, since it should save the unlockedness to savefile and apply it on reload.

A very challenging game. overall great.

I wouldn't have expected to see a game like this one to be so hard. The music is great and if you think about it, it's kind of like your at a rave. It's funny 'cause you're shooting toys. I liked this game and would recommend it. For the hardcore gamers like myself, beat it on hard and trt and finish it on the insanely hard extreme, I think, difficulty. I made it up to level 10 on that one.

Denvish responds:

Crazy... yeah, that's tough. Nice to see a hardcore gamer giving the game respect, many of them seem to find it 'boring', probably because they can't move around and shoot. Thanks for the 10.

fun, compelling, and VERY addictive

I would first off like to thank Denvish because this is a pretty damn good game.

Now thats over with... the music is great. the gameplay is just as good. I like the RPG style upgrades. It flows just like the legend of stick RPG goodness DEFEND YOUR CASTLE so i think thats a plus. I also think you did a good job of putting some of you in there with the music and the variety bad dudes.

So overall its an A++ and i hope you spit out more great games in the future......

Denvish responds:

And another great review... I'm running out of way to say thanks for all the positive feedback. Yeah, Overrun II was intended to have strong elements of DYC games in it, which is the main reason I rebuilt it from the ground up. I'm just so glad it's gone down so well, I really appreciate the high score & review score

Outstanding ! !!

I can't begin to comprehend how good this game is, it has it all thats why i can't help but give it all 10's !!! great work Bob i really hope you keep doing it.

Denvish responds:

I have a brother called Tom, you know.

Thanks for the 10's man, the response so far is awesome =)
