Reviews for "The Big Fat Tutorial"

good for newbies...

and me. I don“t have a Flash yet, but tell me wich version is the best and easiest? well, make more for newbies!

Helbereth responds:

I've only ever used Flash MX 2004, so I can't really make an educated guess other than to say that since it's basically the latest version it's likely the easiest (most streamlined) version.

It does carry a hefty price tag, though ($500). I understand that Flash MX and Flash 5 are still available and still viable (not to mention less costly). However, you won't be able to take advantage of that scripted camera.

Good luck, and thanks for the review!

Awsome Dude. Keep It Up

Helbereth responds:

Thanks, and I will.

Thanks for the review!

good, (i can see it worked for every1 else)

BUT NOT ME!! (waaa!) nothing u said in this i could get to work *cries*

Helbereth responds:

Uh... like what? 99% of this stuff is basic flash skills and tools...

Drop me an e-mail if you're having that much trouble. =)

really helpful

Im a noob at flash, so when i start the turorial i was just saying
"omfg...it gonna be so dificult to understand...." and it was easy! yeah some part were dificult, the camera one he he... but if you can make something about shadow next time it will help a lot of people, so i tell you thank man!
ps:sorry for my english...i speak fench:P

Helbereth responds:

Well unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on your opinion) I don't speak French, so I'll respond in English.

Yes, I tried to make it easier to understand by explaining everything. Using that camera is a simple tool that can produce advanced material.

Shadows, eh? I'll keep that in mind.

Very good but the camera script isnt working

**Error** Symbol=camFrame, layer=actions, frame=1:Line 1: '{' expected
function camControl():Void {

**Error** Symbol=camFrame, layer=actions, frame=1:Line 9: Unexpected '}' encountered
}

Total ActionScript Errors: 2 Reported Errors: 2

The camera thing doesnt work, i made EXACTLY like you stated but it gave me a big fat error. Otherwise its good.

Helbereth responds:

First off, are you using Flash MX 2004 or later? If not, you probably don't have Actionscript 2.0 running - and the camera requires AS 2.0.

Second, I've gone back and looked at the code presented in the flash and it's written out exactly how mine is written (evidenced from the fact that I copied and pasted it directly).

If it's not the AS2.0 and you copied it right, send me an e-mail (helberethmail@hotmail.com) and I'll see if I can troubleshoot it (or at least let me know if it was the AS 2.0 thing).

Thanks for the review!
