Reviews for "Nim's Winter tale"

Wonderful

Finally, something to compete with Adam Phillips' Bitey of Brackenwood (and Prowlies at the River, of course)
Incredible job, way to push flash to the limit and really exploit your skills. Nicely done.

BEAUTIFUL!!

Absolutely breathtaking. This movie is the best one I've seen yet! It illicits such emotion and awe in such a simple and heartfealt way that I can't believe I haven't heard of you before. Please keep making more, I look forward to seeing other works of pure art from you.

holy mother of B!

This is a great flash!

The animation is pretty smooth. Almost like you would see with Pixar's work...Almost, and still pretty good none the less.

It's odd though that the main character didn't say a word, but then I always believed that actions speak louder than words anyway.

I'm very impressed with this work.

I don't think I could have seen any better work today nor tomorrow for that matter.

Wow! That's all I can say. Having Daily Feature, and Weekly User's Choice. You better consider yourself extremely proud.

Well, do take it easy.

Have a nice day.

Bravo, Ola Bergner. You've Raised the Bar.

First watching "Nim's Winter Tale" evoked many emotions and thoughts I've not felt since I first watched another animated masterpiece "Spirited Away". The whole aesthetic presentation of Nim's Winter Tale is a level of superbness rarely seen anywhere, Newgrounds or otherwise.

And it's not like Nim's Winter Tale is trying to impress you to try and get attention, it's more focused on using its art style effectively and cleverly to bring up the most emotion it can, as opposed to just showing off.

Every facet of this animation all ties into what makes it so powerful, nothing seems superflous or misplaced, it's all essential to the atmosphere. The musical store gives the animation an air of heartfelt innocence and whimsy, the visuals etch out their own sense of style that maintainss a fine balance between realism and abstraction, and the sparseness of dialogue until the very end, timed for perfect poignancy, lets the actions tell the story, a technique rarely done right.

Ola Bergner, a name that has easily become associated with genius.

Excellent!!! Brings out many emotions.

This was such a good animation. The quality and graphics were great. The story was emotional from the graphics and video making me feel cold like in the middle of the winter to the warmth of the lantern. The speed of the sled gave me a rush as the feeling in the animation went from tranquil to energetic. The story itself was comforting as well. Not that I understand everything that was going on but what I saw I really enjoyed a lot. Even though there was not much dialog, I was still able to relate to everything going on. Even the simple act of the horse showing he was happy was so well done just using expressions.
