Amusing, but not fantastic.
To be honest, the only reason this got on the front page is because it's the first AYB thing in a long time. But hey, it's not terrible.
Graphics had a blatent overuse of gradients. A little gradients looks cool, but too much is too much. The lip-syncing was on time and kinda decent.
The singing was decent to good. I can understand using a MIDI - to my knowledge, finding an instrumental of an old song in MP3 or WAV format can be pretty hard.
I think the saving grace is the humour. It's not laugh-out-loud funny, but it's amusing. I rather liked when the captain and CATS were headbanging.
So yeah, amusing but not fantastic. I do have to give you props for a good choice of song, but that may be my (lack of) taste in music.

The real reason for using a MIDI, overuse of gradients, lack-of-fantasticity is because: although I have both a MIDI and an instrumental track of BR, I wanted it to be more like the original Zero Wing game; I wanted the graphics to look more like those from the otiginal game; and fantasticity isn't really necessary when it comes to entertainment.
(Just thought I'd clear those up for ya.)

Damn do i love gueen, but i the music is a midi, god dam! "or at least sounds oan act like one." the voices wouldnt make american idol but great lyrics, great art, and geat concept. All i can say is replace the midi woek on the singing "no offence i cant sing either" and that will greatly improve this film. :D

Zero Wing lives
Zero Wing lives on with this creative flash. You have used your talents to create a piece that will be remembered for awhile. Considering the lack of vocabulary and length of the flash you did quite well. Zero Wing was really an awesome game and I'm glad that the American translation of it was so bad. Well I believe I have said my piece on this matter. Keep it up and all that jazz.
