an amazing trip through the mind
I could go on for a long time about this animation. what sticks out the most is the artistic vision. what it communicated to me was a vision of how somebody sees the world inside of their head. Melony is in a coma right? suppose she is for this reviewers sake... The way the boyfriend communicates with her in her subconcious by cellphone! hah! genious. and furthermore thank you thank you thank you for using a completely unique and origional character. "she isn't a level 20 ninja master with the sword of the legendary rat." yet she is far more interesting then any stupid anime action character. and finally, the dark humor suits me. if I may compair to salad fingers... the creator of thoes, David Firth, makes the darkness of his cartoons a little too deliberate. (don't get me wrong, great stuff) but Melony gave me an even more effective feeling of being alone in this huge, strange world, by making it so empty and not quite right.
I have learned much from this first episode, and will apply it to my own work. I havent been this inspired since seeing The Nightmare Before Christmas. >:)
