Reviews for ""Target Practice""

I don't watch the news...

So I don't know exactly how much media attention this film got. Notice how many of the earliest reviews were very high; I wouldn't be surprised if the media blew that out of proportion to say that NG and the Internet in general foster sick minds who enjoy violence. A lot of the latest reviews are very low (many 0s and 1s). I can't tell if this is because people are biased because of the Jeff's actions and therefore score low or if people are too lazy and just give all 0s so they can give their opinion. Probably both. I kind of wish people would give fair reviews to this, as the flash itself (ignoring the violent themes and the fact that the author did kill people) is actually pretty good, especially for a first submission.

As for the "blame game" and how we have to monitor the Internet to find "telltale signs" of impending violence, I think that that's impractical since you can't tell who's a killer just by their actions on the Internet. People can be totally different people on the Internet and not like their normal selves. This isn't to say that these "signs" are meaningless; it's just that this flash alone isn't grounds enough to say/predict that Jeff Weise was a killer.

...

First off, for those who are giving advice on the submission...READ THE RED PRINT! Secondly, I send sympathies to all who were affected by the school shooting. Its a shame when a kid is so frightened and weak willed they snap and do something so foolish. But hey, some people just can't win the fight with their inner hatred. Some just can't be saved. And it won't suprise me if his parents need a scapegoat and blame video games or newgrounds or flash or whatever just because they refuse to accept responsibility for their own foolish mistakes. Oh well. I say, he was probably picked on and pushed to far or what not. The way I see it sometimes though, if life hands you a lemon, throw it back.

OMG

Guys, i'm shocked! I'm German and just heared about in TV, but close to my Village, Mörzheim, is Erfurt. In the Highschool there a boy of 17 Years did a shool shooting to, and i saw the dead people, when police carried them out. The Movie is okay, but the background is horrible.

Great stuff, too bad the kid is dead....

this is pretty good coming from a homicidal maniac, i mean he could have came up with some pretty good movies if he was still alive, shit if he put some effort into this he could have had a career, i gave it a 10 for humor, not because the movie was funny (ok maybe it was alittle, i thought the random kkk member was kinda funny) but because i got some big laughs when reading the reviews, you people are idiots.......r.i.p., im sure that some of the kids he took out deserved it, if not all of them......

Some people don't seem to be taking this seriously

As stated in many news reports through the use of interviews, Jeff Weise was a very disturbed individual. Many have said that he had no friends or he was a total outcast. His overall life seems to be a one of sorrow and tragedy.

School shootings seem to have been brought to the attention of this nation ever since the Columbine incident. However, occurences of these school shootings were much greater before the Columbine tragedy. The horror of knowing that the people around you are likely to reap a vermillion terror upon you is indeed very scary.

I have personally experienced torment and anguish within school. My high school career was terrible. Other students picked on me and treated me like a lesser person. This is very much like the students who have caused many of the school shootings in the history books. The question was asked in one of my college classes: "Due to the number of school shootings in the past, do you believe students will treat other students with more respect?" The answer every one of my classmates said was no.

People are cruel; it's blatantly obvious. Differences tend to lead to ultimate downfall between people. Tolerance of other people's ways is necessary for us to live in a more peaceful society. Perhaps even tolerance isn't the solution. The true concept is acceptance. If we cannot accept our fellow individual, then we cannot live in peace.

As outrageous as Jeff's movies are, they are very informative. If we can't take people seriously, then they can't take us seriously. A life is a very fragile thing. Taking Jeff's humility away made he believe that he take lives away.

Jeff Weise has reminded us of how cruel people are. If we don't take action to help each other, we may see more incidents like this in the future.
