Still among the hottest peices on NG!
Oh, I remember when this animation first came out - it did so explosively.
It was the absolutely heaviest animation on Newgrounds and was rated first on the "of all times" for months.
The visuals are even today stunning and it is safe to say there is not a single animation more worthy the "Serious Shorts" icon than this. Both the torn design, acual drawings and colouring is all great and I can't file a single complaint on any of it.
The animations are fast paced and the ability to pause the movie at any time is great - with the special memory of pausing in the midst of the drive-by scene in mind - and the 3D-animations are very well implemented.
Soundwise it's near flawless, too. The opening song is very fitting the entire theme and all the non-music sounds are fitting their animations like the hand in a glove.
My favourite part (wich I'm guessing I share with alot of people) is the remote car-explosion scene. The soldiers talk being cut-off worked very well, the explosion where you could see the soldiers being engulfed in flames was great and the mushroom-explosion seen from a bit away looked great. The absolute best part is after the acual explosion where you see the dead parts laying around - you have really got some nasty skill there. The blown-off legs look super and when the Combine-like soldier had a bruise, showing his skin, the soldiers humanity was confirmed making the entire deal alot scarier.
Shortly, this was the hottest thing on entire NG when it came out 2004 and still is amongst the absolutely hottest. It went off front page January 2008.
