Reviews for "Decline of Video Gaming 2"

Ahhh... wow. This is a massive ramping up from 1.

An upgrade in every sense of the term. And more than worthy of this, my 500th review. That's right. #500. Whee! And how I love a movie that lets me give all 10s as I don't give them out very often (eh, it was a stretch on violence, but that's about it)... Anyway... I DO hope that you guys see the irony in making a sequel of a flash vid that was criticising the endless sequels that the video game industry is currently, and will presumably continue to... experience and suffer from, in some ways. #;-}>

The minigames were quite fun in a tedious, mind-destroying way... heh... and the actual movie... well, where to begin. For one thing, I do enjoy that this one didn't start off with an overlong white text on black background intro like the original did (I believe that was my main critique of it).

Wonderful bounty of little touches... for instance, I believe I spotted a certain MGS character from part 1.... the acronym joke before that, too... But anyway... the framing and structure of this one is certainly quite different from the original. Instead of a kinda parody of current trends and commentary... you've opted for quite the epic narrative... featuring the evil Square, Capcom, and Konami heads plotting against our intrepid heroes...

Sadly, when the narrative finally gets along to the game parodying part... I find that my lack of a current-gen console and my 6.5 year old computer (which I already knew were liabilities) are keeping me from getting a lot of the jokes. For instance, I know of SSBM, but I've never played it... and thus the Onimusha rip-off joke or whatever... though I understand it... fails to make much of an impression. However, the MGS3 thing with Mac music was freakin' hilarious. And (gasp) I'd actually heard about those light-sensitive gameboy thingies, so that's good.

FFX in Canada / South Park fun = TEH FUNNY! And yay, Blue Rabbit. And Yay, active time combat battle uh... wotsit system. Which is really a parody of half a dozen FF games by now. Ahhh... juicy. 245k for one phoenix down?! EGAD. (gasp) MORE BLUE RABBIT! Wow.

Anyway, I think I've gone on for long enough, though there was much much more, including the very very funny question and answer scene (fan "appreciation" device hahahah!) I'll just say that I hope you embrace the irony and make a DOVG3 and 4 and 5 and 6 and so forth and so on. Hopefully, if so, each and every one will continue to find new ways to lampoon video games and... well, different games to parody (though Metal Gear and FF will doubtless be in each one, eh? heh...) Great job, as always, guys!

LO-freaking-L
