I loved the original Bitey of Brackenwood
even though it really didn't go anywhere. And the same is true for this. You're showing us teasing little glimpses of a lush and wonderful world... without giving us much of a narrative to go along with it, just bits and pieces of life in Brackenwood, and (at least) many of the characters and creatures that inhabit it. And I AM thankful for that last part.
The flash starts off well from the get-go... the interesting touches you've added to the preloader... the beautiful low/med/high/auto leaf buttons... man, you do EVERYTHING with class, dontcha!
Anyway, low quality mode for me. Here we go. Heh. I find it kinda funny that your author comments AND the little intro text in the flash itself both make the prowlies out to have a hidden danger and aggressiveness... but as it turns out, Bitey should be more concerned with his own foolishness and be more aware of his surroundings... that is the moral here. #;-}>
As for the plot... interesting reference, it seems, to the first movie... with the little yellow peep guy and Bitey in his dream... OUCH! The woodpecker-lizard's poking of Bitey's eye looked mighty painful, let me tell ya. And if that wasn't enough to get the people who disliked Bitey from his first movie to feel bad for him... then we have the damned thing taking a crap in his water hole?!
Anyway, on with more entertaining things... like him going Tarzan on the forest, swinging here and there, leaping from branch to branch (quite well, considering he has hooves)... gorgeous forest, as usual. There IS a different feel to it this time, but perhaps that's just due to your new "flash camera" technique you mentioned.
Now, we have these little white buggies and... yay, finally, a prowlie! Interesting little tadpole-ish guys with only arms/hands and no legs/feet. Heh, even the grass they play in looks lush and alive. Green is my favourite colour, so it's quite understandable that I just LOVED this scene's backgrounds.
I also liked that the prowlies stood up for their fellow prowlie and gave Bitey a bit of a whatfor! Bitey sure can tear up the earth, eh? What a scar in the beautiful grass. ;_;
And finally, a sort of standoff... with Bitey getting more than he bargained for while drinking from the quiet forest stream. Who the heck is that elfin dude, anyway? Heh. Anyway, quite the punchline there, my good sir. Great short film, and you keep us wanting MORE MORE MORE of this world! More of the yellow peep, too! Bring him back next time, eh? #;-}> Congrats on another great flash, and on your score moving up and up from 4.75 when I first saw this to 4.78 now... with over 10,000 votes. That HAS to be a first on NG's portal. I hope you stay at #1 with this for a LONG time to come, but I fear the haters may vote you down once this week ends and your flash finally appears at the top of the top 50 list. Ah wells. Another Bitey shall come, I hope, to fix that should it happen!
You are quality mate keep it up.
i don't no how you can do that on flash, your drawings are ridiculously excellent.
