That's Madison Avenue, telling you to conform to the norm. It's the hive mentality, be it in or be nothing. Wiped off the map. And it does come from unpersonal automatons-- corporations. There's no life behind them, and they promote no life. It is empty nihilism.
But the sex orgy I didn't understand. Amazing flick, great message, powerful imagery and disturbing smiles. This is one of my favorite flashes.

Disturbing, strange, BRILLIANT!!!
Something tells me that this has some sort of political or social meaning behind it. The robots represent the mass media like MTV and all the sort. They tell you to "Smile" or tell you whats cool. If you aren't, society punishes you, or in this case fires spikes into you. Then, you try to go along with it and "smile", but you just can't because you realize that this isn't you, and so you don't smile. Then the rest of the world just seems to end you because you didn't go along with what they say. Thats my interpretation.
Disturbing
Very 1984-ish, and also had a clockwork orange type vibe to it. It was disturbing without having over the top gorefest. Good work.

Excellent, it was original and inventive and it made you think.

Why SMILE?
Excellent movie, it was black and white which made it more artsy and grisly, and the ambient music really added to it.
Capped off nicely with a little dancing.
Strange and oddly disturbing but very good.
