If 1984 were a Flash animation...
I think maybe the reason so many of you 'didn't get it' is because you would be the people pushing the buttons. Those who suggested 'I don't get it, why didn't he just smile?', you've broken. The movie was about society doing everything they can to break mens' souls. He tried to ignore the pain, tried to smile, but the blood reminded him they were killing him, and he couldn't bear to smile anymore. So they killed him. Many of you would smile, most of you already have, and you'd just become another robot, an empty, soulless shell.
The ending fit with the whole movie. It stressed the point that he was trying to make, as well as making another. Nothing but respect, Wasilewski.
