this really was one of the best short films i've come across so far on this site. Their was so much meaning, and it was an excellent way of describing how much of a struggle it is these days to just be your self, to not have to march in line. it was expressed well who the people judging represent, and who the man alone reprents. I loved this, it was a great peice of art, and really sends out a message. well done.
Not as brilliant as many think
The struggle of a non conformist has never been animated more stylish than in this particular flash. Stylish it is without a doubt. Superb use of tweening, 3d and black and white colors to create the proper atmosphere for the thing.
But what this animation unfortunately lacks, and i think you know it too, is depth. When whe leave the visual spectacle behind what do we have left? A short, almost cliche movie, in which the helpless non conformist is showed as the victim of the will of the population. Subtlety isnt available here, this is symbolism in its most purest form.
Heavily tortured, the non conformist refuses to adapt and will eventually fade away.
Very heavy serious material without one single humorous or original perspective in it make the thing not groundbreaking or really innovating, but more an entertaining short flash movie that alot of the modern day teenagers can relate to.
This is an absolutely brilliant flash movie.
I love this flash movie, plain and simple. It's one of the best on Newgrounds, and in my opinion, raises the bar for what should be considered good flash videos. But, of course, it's shamefully underappreciated by most flash viewers (it should be in the top 10, but I guess that's not so important.)
First of all, the music was excellent. It enhanced the delightfully depressing atmosphere of the video perfectly. The black and white color scheme did much the same; a good choice for this kind of flash movie. The graphics were well animated, and moved very smoothly.
And finally, it had a great message about conformity and society as a whole. I would even go so far as to call it an Orwellian flash video. I have mixed feelings about the ending, however. On one hand, it feels like it was simply put in for the sake of comedic relief. On the other hand, it added to the overall message.
