Outstanding work
It was my urge to review this that I finally joined Newgrounds.
First, on a basic level, I was amazed at the level of detail you put into this. When the being - I can't really say "human" due to the basic asthetics, but I understand that's meant to be interpreted - is forcing himself to smile despite having two seven-foot spears lodged in his chest, that little flicker in his left eye allowed us to understand just how much pain he was undergoing. The style, too, was flawless; the music, the lighting, even the faint hissing and crackling in the background... everything suggests a tyrannical society in a far distant future when humans are ancient history.
Then, on an interpretive level... Wow. It is now easy to see just how much we are forced to conform to the barbaric standards handed down to us through the ages; in this case, the mere lack of a "sufficient" smile would be taken as a hint at rebellion and will get you sent to that psychological counseling depicted so vividly in that movie. I remember one of the other reviews for this work: take care of the rebel, then go about your business... Fascinating.
Disturbing little movie.
The graphics were nice. The shading effects, along with the music, were perfectly eerie. I also like the statement you seem to be making with this one.
