For sure. Thanks.

Might think about fixing that.

Yah, i'll have to do something about it. Not to sure what though...

Maybe make the whole handle straight? ;)
Then maybe you have to fiddle a bit with the hand, but it can't be that difficult.

:Woocha!

Cool. :) I like the color scheme and I really like the background.
It might had looked an itty bitty bit better with the sun in the left corner instead of the right, but that might just be a personal preference. Good job nonetheless.

Thank you sir...drew it on flash from a sketch i did a long time ago. I actually shaded him first so if i put the sun behind him it may not have looked right.

Yes of course the shading would not look right, you would have to change them.
I just think the sun distracts a bit when it's located exactly over his head.
But I understand it's strenuous to change that now, so don't worry about it.
It's just a small trifle.

Its just really annoying going through all the color layers trying to get it straight and such. And it is difficult because i drew it in flash and imported it back in. Would take some work.

Made this explosion today and I really like it. Buttt, when I was exporting from PS, I didn't really take into consideration file size. Instead, I just PNG24 (and transparacy'd) them, and now the relatively short SWF is 2mb.. not ideal for a game.

So what can I do to cut it down? What other export for web settings would be good? Could I change the Publish settings in flash to cope with PNGs?

Naaaaahh, would rather not GIF it, but that will do as a last resort :). It was quite easy to animate in PS then bring it over to flash btw, you should all give it a go.

Nice explosion :). I'd try lowering the image export quality, it'd lower the size and improve the performance. Although then it won't look as good :(.

I guess great minds think alike. I was thinking about doing a HM zombie back in october too.

Looks good !P

Response to Newground Artist showcase thread 2007-04-06 20:00:27

Alright, reverse order:

Pako: I love the style you have, and I think that's actually very good (and the first thing resembling a human I've seen of yours :P). I like the fact that he killed one of those damn gnomes. I hate them.

Depredation: Very clean looking design, but I don't like the fact that in the full image, it's just in the corner and the rest is blank (I like pictures that have lots going on :P).

Mogly: Different approuch to an explosion, and it looks good. What I don't like is that at one point near the end, when it goes mostly smoke, it looks weird, and too wavy. Also, like you said, it's a big filesize for just that.

Penboy: Interesting, but I can't quite tell: Would the white part be the canyon part, and the rest be rockage? Or vice versa? Or is it just a design and has nothing to do with the actual 'canyon' as it were?

chillyphilly: I love the shading on the cape. It looks very nice. My one problem with it is that it seems that the guys torso is a bit too short (or perhaps his pants are just high) and that it sucks in a bit too much in the middle. Otherwise, very nice.

Radioactive24: Looks alright. It looks like a Gameboy advance, at least :P If I wanted to be really picky, I could say the left trigger button on top is a bit too rounded, but that's being very picky.

23450: I like the detail along the wall (the snow). I also like the shading and the bit of glow on the hammer. However, what is it that that gnome (?) smashed? Also, I personally am not a big fan of plain white eyes, but they look alright.

fuzz: Love the shading on it, and the hands (right more than the left). His left leg looks a bit awkward, and in general it's hard to determine which leg is which (unless you base it off of the arm positions), but otherwise, nice pic. Background is a bit plain though. Is it from a game or a movie?

And I'm spent. Lots of good stuff on this page.

Thanks for the feedback, its actually a screenshot of a runcycle i was working on. Ill finish it and post it

Don't worry then. Just remember it until the next time you're going to draw something similar.

Alright, well, today I sat down and did a bunch of stuff using Flash and Photoshop. They're inspired by the one and only Pascal Campion, www.pascalcampion.com

Anyways, here they are:
Far.
Inhale.
Memory
Dying
and finally, Escape.

All of them took me under 30 minutes, but I did try, so yeah, gimme some comments :P

Looking very good. Has a cartoony yet realistic look to it, i love those kinds of backgrounds.

As far as a texture, im not to sure. Have alot of virtical cracks i guess...besides that i cant really help.

Just doing the background for Pico day game, and had a little mess about with pretending 3d. What do you think? Is this how you would go about pulling it off? Basically have a foreground layer tweened back on itself, the background move quicker, and the mid ground just keep moving.

Btw, just did it quick for a test, but if I was putting it together properly would add smoothing and whatever else.
