Just overhauled my personal library of NG related files. My titles in most cases were way too long, and a lot of them started with NewGrounds and somesuch, especially all the different top 50 lists I save, which I usually just append info on the end of the title they started out with. Problem is that the DOS names become Newg~456.htm and so forth because I have soooo freakin' many top 50 lists saved... and while backing up my files on a CD-ROM the other month, I noticed that names as long as the ones I give many of my files are not supported... bleh. Anywho, now I've got a naming structure that goes like this (had to cut down dates from 20031109 to just 31109... won't be a problem until 2010) for the prefixes:

G31109 = profile sceenshot of my gfoxcook account
N31109 = Top 50 Stickers List
P30916 = Top 50 Popularity List (the last one ever savable)
S31109 = Top 50 Blam-Protect List
X31109 = Top 50 Experience List

ahhh... much better now. (now the DOS name for the last one, for instance, is just X31109~1.htm, so that's just fine, it doesn't obscure the important info, that being what type of list it is and what date it's from).

Oh, and I didn't show it up there, but after the date comes basic info about who's #1 on the list with how much of that stat and also my place on the list and my stat on it, for example:

S31110 -- Top 50 Blam-Protect -- ramagi 1 (34992) gfoxcook 7 (20142).htm

is how my most recent save of the top 50 b/p list looks.

Yeah, like I said, I just wanted to vent about the work I had to do to get my files better organised. And yeah, never hurts to be reminded of how 8.3 filenames work with 256.3 or whatever longfilenames.

b2s% is easy. At the time of the update you had:

5777 blams
3509 saves

b2s% = 5777/3509 * 100 = 164.63%

You have 1.6463 times as many blams as you have saves, IOW. That's all it means.

Congrats! Been a looooong time since I've had any tests at all (well, aside from employment tests), but I still remember how that feels. If anyone doesn't mind being spoiled on what the list is going to be, exactly, it's the first 10,000 User ID#s on NG. Well, not all 10,000 (most don't have profiles), but all that have a profile or movies. It'll probably end up being 1500 people or so. The oldest account-holding/profile-having users on NG, IOW. And this time, it will be complete with profile links so people can actually easily check out the sign up dates and other stats. I've found a lot of interesting people that never posted a single post or got a single blam or save during this list making process. And my excel file is bursting (1.3meg+ file... heh).

As I suggested there, the top 50 updates have been delayed somewhat by the user ID list, which I've yet to finish, as I haven't done much on it this past week.

My grandfather died on Saturday night, for one thing, and I'm going to the funeral on Friday and there's Thanksgiving tomorrow and on and on and on.... craziness.

However, I'm about to rankup, and when I do (at 21500), I'll be doing an update whether the user ID list is done or not, so fear not. It's coming this week or weekend.

No real action going on here. With PZY and Scaper-X making the top 50 combined list in the time since they made THIS list last update, there's been kinda a vacuum of races behind them. If anyone wakes up, though, innphernoe is TOAST. He's not moving very much, just hanging back right behind the top 50 combined... and if he doesn't start moving, he'll be hanging back right behind the top 50 blams, too.

Greg's Notes:

16 rankups this time, compared to 4 and 8 and 6 the last three times. 14 are on both lists, the other 2 are only on this list. An awesome number, and a bit of a hassle to figure out which # of each rank everyone was, but my top 50 list collection certainly helped, as I don't remember the order everyone ranked up into each rank over a 3 week period that well. #;-}>

I added +/- comparisons to the last update's stats in the List Stats section, as you might have noticed. The top 50 saviors actually beat the top 50 blammers in terms of blams and overall pointgain, but that has a lot to do with courtday joining the list, so it's not exactly precise. Still, he bumped off Overtired, and his stats become part of that list's stats now. So, if any mostly-blam-centered people want to fight back, you've got to get your blams up and enter the blams list if you're not already there. #;-}>

No, he's not arrows_eleven.

First of all, arrows_eleven left NG a couple months ago. Read this topic for more info. He gave his account away:

Since that topic, I believe three different people, including MacBeth and Josh Bend, have had the account. Now it belongs to a guy who changed it to -adric- and now it's Gambit-. It's #16 on the top 50 list. Just one away from courtday, coincidentally enough:

Excel doesn't like it when you type - in front of text, since - means subtract by default. You'll notice that -Yoink- is just Yoink on the list as well, it's nothing personal to your name.

Er, just set the specific cell as "text" in format cells - works for me.
