In conversations collectively referring to everyone with BPs, officer is more likely to mean the Elite Guard ranks entire. Technically, praporshchik is roughly the equivalent of a senior WO (Warrant Officer), which is a separate career grade between that of non-commissioned officers (sergeant and corporal ranks) and commissioned officers (second lieutenant and higher).

One B/P point will get you ranked around #21,000, last I checked. Probably a bit more now, but less than 25,000. Somewhere in the 20-25k zone, let's just say. And so what I was referring to was them, yes, but also Elite Guardsmen of Praporshchik or less. The point is that in reality, you need more officers to administer and order and organise and etc. etc. all the grunts! Of course, there should still be way more grunts than officers, but it should be somewhat of a nice pyramid shape. Instead, we have a very very very narrow tip bulging obscenely towards the bottom.

And since you do get promoted from Police Captain to Elite Guard Private, BTW, I include the police in with the Elite Guard as part of the overall "army."

Prior to this past week (6 total BPs in 4 days), he was averaging 13.86/day during the 3 weeks in which I have been actively tracking people's progress. Part of his problem is people like me and staff, who keep raising the bar for getting to 50. As an adjunct, it is also raising the average/day of the 50 rank, so that it's currently at 14.68. If he continues to operate at his previous pace, I believe he'll eventually make it, but it will be substantially after biteme2514, Denvish, and Syme do. By the time those latter two get up in range, I should have a good handle on anyone else working their way up who could cause him further issues. If he suddenly gets more spare time, he could easily make it in a matter of days.

I probably should have mentioned this long ago in the 'level up' thread, but I haven't even really had the time for that. I gave up on the points, long ago. I'm actually surprised I was averaging 14 or so a day for a while. I haven't been doing anything the past month, I've even missed more than 2 weeks worth of depositing. Reasons? Priorities, mainly. I realized some time ago that I just really don't have the time for this anymore, and in fact, I never really did. I do plan to still hang around the BBS as much as I can, though. A lot of you guys are very cool to talk to, and I'd really regret losing contact. However, I fear that due to my scarce amount of free time on here my role as a WI/HT? member may be jeopardized. We'll have to see what the future brings, but at least now you all have an explanation for the no longer existent point gaining over the past couple months.

Sure. Well, it's just that getting to the "gold ranks" is a lot easier to grasp, I guess, than getting to the commissioned officer ranks... visually, at least. It's more of a tangible thing to be aiming for after you get past Police Captain and want to get back to the golden rank medal. Not sucky for me, but I've been spending an abnormal amount of time here at the computer working on my own flash, talking/arguing with my ex gf, playing with Fruity Loops, etc. and catching plenty of b/p's along the way.

a month ago there wasn't ;) If you look closely, you'll see that there's actually a lot of blanks. A few, I'm sure, are from people without profiles that I'll never find. The weekly update is delayed. Since 7, all I've been getting are white screens claiming they are done, with the rare occasion like this one where I get a screen I'm trying to get to. I can't get profiles faster than 1 per 10 minutes or so. It'll have to ride until this mess clears itself up.

I gave up on NG around 10. Providing I don't get stonewalled by that blank screen crap again, the weekly will be up as soon as I can after the maintenance this morning and just do the per day averages based on 8 days.

<vent>For reasons that escape me, NG suddenly comes to a screeching halt, insofar as connection speeds, at noon EDT, and suddenly goes back to normal at midnight EDT over the last few days. Notice the fact that by evening there still 20+ movies under judgement, some of which were from early afternoon? My average is going to go down the drain until that gets fixed up. I've been keeping my eye on several "battles" between blammers jockeying for position, and this week's FU is a participant in one of those. He also seems to have gotten the better of his particular "fight," at least for the moment. People who are consistently getting a lot tend to catch my eye ;) Not only is he a flash artist, but is a prolific musician (and not just in the Audio portal), and a proud papa. I'm not entirely sure about the statement that his 2 year old daughter is, "also a better Flash author than 73% of the people that submit to NG." I think it's closer to 69.4%, but I'll let it slide =)

This week's FU:

FREELENS is one of his favorites, and after having watched his flash I can see why. Uusually, I'll try to give some general comments and focus on one or two flash. Freelens uses a wide variety of artistic styles, so I'm not going to be able to get away with that here. The artwork, in general, gives the impression that Freelens was simply aiming for "good enough," but don't let that take away from his product. It's not "crisp" animation in the same sense that Picasso and Monet arent "crisp."

Black Eye Boy is one of the few of his I "get" and I'm placing no bets that what I understand is what was meant lol. Even his "comedies", StupidFckn'Rbts:1, 2 & 3, Wonderlick: Episode 1, Wonderlick: Episode 2, and Wonderlick: Episode 3 are, well let's just say, out there. Wonderlick is the result of a tryst between Snoopy and an anteater. That should give you an idea. Wonderlick: Episode 1 and The Future of Pornography are the only flash of his with more than 200 votes, so I think he's one of those "hidden gems" I was hoping to find by doing this section.

My Arbitur/Final Exams, by STTWebs is a student's revenge. Well, more like a bitch-fest, but still quite good. I'd recommend turning up the volume, as the artist is German and usually soft-spoken in the flash. It's quite easy to miss comments.

Now back to Denvish =) Rather than try and go over his flash and audio submissions, I'll just send you tp Only You Know (MV) and you can do both at one go =). I'm not a big acoustic fan, but that's just me. It's defitinely worth checking out. What a Dalek is doing in a jungle escapes me though ~shrug~

Planet Bob is his homepage. Although he has a ton of his own music available there, as well as a few of his tracks at MP3.com, I'd venture to guess that THIS is the real pride and joy of his "work." You can also find some real, actual pictures of Denvish there. Grace obviously got her looks from Katy :-P~~~ I tell my brother-in-law something similar about his Grace too, so hush.
