Most of us would have to outlive him by a looong time to make up that difference, especially since there will probably only be a handful of submissions per day if things keep going on like they have been for the last few years.

Amounts of submissions per day aren't still going down though, are they? Feels like when I came back at the end of 2012 it was pretty much the same as it is right now, somewhere between 40-70 per day. Didn't really notice the downfall till that point.

Sounds like quite the dystopian future to me. :P

As of right now I am the only person on the globe that is shortening the distance between their score and Afro_Stud's. Literally every other person in existence is currently experiencing their distance from the #1 spot widen and fall farther away from their grasp.

Ah, this graph represents user activity rather than actual portal activity then! If users overall have let up on their B/P collection rate that would make the trend a bit less drastic, and since the vote quote on the portal was changed it should be harder for any one user to attain all B/P points available in a single day. Could that be around the same time the chart drops to an all-time low toward the end of 2013? It should've taken a while to get used to the increased rate and start checking the portal more often again. Well thanks for the graph! As for size, how about adding a link to a bigger version in the dump? It is readable though.

I'd say that there's always at least that one person in the top 300 that's getting every BP point possible short of passing out from sleep deprivation. :P The lowering of the number of votes needed to pass judgement wasn't something I took into consideration and is a really good point as I think paces were dropped a little bit after that happened. (That was around the time I stopped actively BP'ing, so I'm not entirely sure...)

I feel like I've been getting considerable amounts the past few months, but I still miss at least ten submissions every night, that's a minimum of 300 submissions per month that I miss... and the top BPer usually isn't more than a hundred or two ahead. So... yeah, that could be the sway. :)

I see nothing has changed since the last time I checked in here. Afro Stud still going strong after all these years and I'm somehow still ranked up at 108 despite pretty much no activity in the last few years.

I'm kind of glad I chose a sudden retirement from doing this. I went from wanting to do this until at least 60k if not more to suddenly just stopping and it's lost all it's appeal to me especially since the re-design happened for whatever reason.

If you don't mind my asking what is with the blacklisted users I am seeing on the list? It's been a while since the last time I checked up on this list.

It's users who are save happy and get little to no blam points at all, thus "abusing" the system and letting crap in the portal. What we want is users who vote fairly, not save whores.

To elaborate a bit on what Haggard said: It's a way of removing savewhores from this list; a practice originally started by Bahamut that I have continued on with. Users who fail to reach a save/blam ratio of 150:1 for the month are removed from the list for that update.

150:1 is a joke. I could get that in my sleep. Maybe you should consider changing this number to 50:1 since it's easily obtainable. Hell I get (around) 600 saves a month to (around) 100 blams a month and I vote "fair'. I personally think if a users figures aren't close to mine they're abusing the system, the people that are getting double the saves that I get but are still only getting (around) 10-20 blams a month are abusing the system and definitely are NOT voting fair.

50:1 is realistic, I'm not going to argue that, but if I set the blacklist threshold there we'd have a list where nearly 1/3 of the list is blacklisted. If you guys insist on setting such requirements, maybe it's best to start with 150:1 and see what that does? It'd be a little silly if 1/3rd of the list gets blacklisted.

If there was a rule like that, there would need to be some kind of cut-off point -aka users who gain less than X amount of BP are exempt. Users like you and Auz are obviously good and honest voters and aren't going anywhere, so don't worry. ;)

150:1 has been and will continue to be the threshold for blacklisting, at least for the time being.

If I may interject....

It's really not a matter of trying, it's a matter of the site is in a decline/dying. Just look at the forums, Audio portal, Flash portal, etc... This site started to go down after '07. In it's hay days in the mid 2000's(04's to 09's) it was BOOMING. But now, not so much. Hell, the forums as of this moment I'm posting have less than 25 people where as in the times I mentioned it had close to 100 and sometimes even 170. Hell, the previous record for most users online was 774 or around that number compared to whatever paltry number that is stated now. It'll take an act of a god to bring it back to what it once was. Saves, blams,.... People are too soft on the portal for fear of a back lash. Maybe it's because the content is better but I honestly believe people are too soft and those that were hard nosed are gone. I vote how I feel the score should be, on everything I vote on. Art that is damn near to a 5 and isn't all that great I give it a zero to knock it down .2 points. Too much trash comes through to the site and it's dumbing it down. You all can disagree with me but I stand firm in handing out free zeroes to a lot of things on the site to balance out the numbers and try to make authors see that it's not that good so they push themselves.

UPDATE #11: FEBRUARY 16th, 2014

I started a new job this past month that frequently has me working 6 days a week, so the update may not always be on the 15th from this point on, though I will try and make it as close as possible. Anyway, you'll notice that I added a few new stat trackers above the list for total blams/saves and BP. Not really important, but one can never have too many stats, am I right? :P

Also, congrats to Afro_Stud and VJF for finally taking my #1 spot for most top 5 finishes. ;_;

And yet, this month you got about 150 total B/P, 51 of which were Blams giving you around a 3 to 1 S/B ratio. Whats the problem with that. It's easy to vote 2-5 on something (even though you know its shit and deserves a ZERO) if you think its going to pass judgement, that's an easy way to guarantee yourself a Save point. But I don't and wont vote 2-5 on that shitty flash even though I know it will most likely pass judgement and I will not get the Blam point because I gave it a ZERO.

If you don't think the numbers add up, I will (not so) happily change my voting habits for 1 month and prove to you that it's easy to top the B/P list or the Top Savers list for the month when you vote without a conscience. I guarantee I will be in the Top B/P'ers list and the Top Savers list if I vote like some other un-named idiots. But I also guarantee I wont be in the Top 5 Blammers list for the month, where I am 99% of the time because of sensible voting.

PS: FYI, I have and will continue to vote ZERO on every Flappy Bird clone that enters the Portal. What about you guys? I bet 99% of you are voting 2-5 on them to get your Save point. You must be because they are all seemingly passing judgement. What a fucking sad, sad joke.

PPS: You and Auz should know I think better of you than what I do of most other NG'ers in regards to your voting habits and previous comments weren't directed at either of you.

Yay! Thank you, Dev - another bright spot in my otherwise dreary life!

I started a new job this past month that frequently has me working 6 days a week, so the update may not always be on the 15th from this point on, though I will try and make it as close as possible. Ok - I'm back... sorry about the digression.

As for the blam/protect ratios , voting fairly and blacklisting: I can only speak about my habits and my opinion - which, after many years here on Newgrounds, goes something like this: Log in when I can, and review and vote fairly when I do, and clobber any foul reviews that I see. I'm not on as much as I was years back - real life does take it's toll - but when I am on I do get to vote on a subset of what plops through the portal. It is a lot of crap, and even with voting zero on the obvious crap, I only managed about 86 blams to 857 protects from 1/15/2014 through 2/15/2014 - a "wonderful" 10:1 ratio.

I don't really worry about ranking anymore...it's nice to see I'm up in the top 12, but that's not as important as voting fairly. I am sure if I upvoted everything I saw I'd have a lot more protects - but definitely less blams.

The problem is if the minority of voters vote fairly, and the majority vote to protect, all of our collective blam votes are lost against the tide of stat-whoring. Ms. Gagsy took a stand a few months ago - pretty much "blam" or no vote at all. I admire that...

So I wonder if we could try an experiment: from 3/1/2014 through 3/15/2014 all of us do the same thing - if a flash needs to be blammed, zero it - but if it's ok, just don't vote on it (don't worry, the save whores will cover it). It's only 2 weeks - but it would be interesting to see the outcome...yes, it could offset your monthly points, but so what?

Personally, I think we'd all see more blams - those "borderline" flashes that would get upvoted would be blammed now, as only blams would matter.

I am NOT saying we should zero-bomb everything - no no no no no! But I am saying we should learn to look with a more critical eye on what should pass and what should be removed.
