Death Note was good for the first few episodes, but then around the 25th episode mark, it crashed and burned.
The series could have been so much better if they'd had a little mystery to it.
Say, if they didn't lay out the plans, aims and reasons for absolutely everything right at the start of the series, and left something for the audience to discover, rather than having us groan as the characters spend episodes upon episodes trying to figure out what we already know.
The series probably would be better if it had the police being the main characters, and you only see Light in sequences with the family, and when L is suspecting him, so later on in the series you can discover that he's the killer and be all surprised, and then it can reveal how he did everything.
And of course I'd also prefer it if it didn't have L giving thought monologues all the time, so the audience don't know what he's planning as much.
We could be as clueless as the chief is.
I just gave up on the series about episode 31 or something, but from what I hear the ending sucks.
