Ah yes. I remember it well; well...um, i remember it vaguely, but i'm going to try to tell it like it is.
Uh...Right.
Chapter 1: The mystery of the King.
The King looked around, lightly and graciously attending his attention to all the details of his castle; the discarded drinks sorted neatly into various trash bins, the indescribable amounts of papers and notes that once lazed around his Throne were all tidily packed, neat and ready to be attended to after the party.
He gazed around once more, then smiled to himself.
The extensive and indeed controversially innovative proclamation order was nearly complete, and soon the great city-state of Newgrounds was to be even mightier than before. He found himself reflecting over this and laughed quietly to himself. No-one had thought that a simple nave still learning the ways of magic would one day rise to be King of arguably one of the greatest City-States in the various and odd land of the Internet.
And now, with his power assured, he bid good day to his servant for the day, TheSnakeSkull.
"You may go now, TheSnakeSkull," The King waved his hand graciously.
"Thankyou, my King," The boy responded immediately, bowing and putting his hand to his shoulder. "It is an honour to serve the wise and powerful leader of our great nation."
The sovereign waved his hand once more, replying.
"It is of men and child like you, SnakeSkull, that i may call myself King of the Realm."
The boy went, bowing and stumbling all the way to the Great Hall. He was a good and obedient child, and like the many other inhabitants, eager to revel in what the King had built for himself and others.
Just then, a glamorous woman entered the realm, her several maidens fussing over her attire like moths to the light. Her light, flowing hair and surprising intellect never ceased to amaze and stun the King. Of course, this is exactly why he had made her his Queen, as of a few weeks ago.
"Tom," She wrapped her arms around him, and he did likewise. Withdrawing slightly, she swatted away the maidens.
"You may go, ladies." Tom smiled, as he looked back upon his new wife. "But you, my dear, if you would stay so long as to let me tell you of something?"
As the ladies went, closing the door behind them, Tom whispered a surprising and shocking secret. She instantly withdrew from their embrace and gasped.
"Tom, you can't seriously be pondering this!" She exclaimed, a look of worry soon spreading across her face.
"This, this is Hypocrisy! This is foolishness, this is-"
"THIS! IS! SPARTA!!!" The Halberdier bellowed, raising his steel axe high above his head.
The others laughed, as beer and wine were served round. The mod then turned his large axe onto it's head, swinging it slightly until a powerful foot stopped it in it's track, the foot revealing itself to be of a woman's.
"Maus, why the partypooper?" Bigbadron asked, laughing slightly.
"Because, Bigbadron, we weren't called here to just sit around and make stupid jokes about NG fads."
"Oh please. If we were supposed to be serious," He gestured towards the crowd.
"We'd be getting paid!" A few burst out into laughter; others holding themselves back for fear of punishment, and some just didn't find it funny. One of those people spoke, however.
"You know, we really should be trying to figure out what Tom has in store for us." A raspy, almost digital voice responded. They all turned towards a metallic-looking man, his robotic exoskeleton hidden within an old cape. He had laid himself down on one of the seats, the little bleeps and blops of his heart-monitor going in their regular beat.
"C'mon Mindchamber, be a sport." Ozcar called back, raising his drink above his head.
"Surely we can have just a little fun before Tom gets here?" Mindchamber slowly turned his head towards Ozcar and the others, the gears on his neck straining just slightly.
"While something this important goes down? And just why do you think he's brought us ALL here?"
Before Ozcar could answer, Canas stood up.
"He's right, you know. Whatever it is that Tom brought us here for, it must be important; I mean, why all of us? Surely one or two, maybe even three would be sufficient to deal with a minor problem, but this must be big. Real big."
This quietened the crowd, but only for a moment. They chatted and talked and murmured and argued about it, until the door opened once more and all fell silent.
It was Tom.
The King courteously greeted his 51 guests, then took up the main throne on the close end of the large, elaborate table.
"My friends," Tom welcomed them all. "I am so grateful and pleased you could all make it. This is a very important night for us, all of us, and Newgrounds itself.
Tonight we shall discuss something of shattering importance, but first, we must drink."
The majority of the mods cheered, and booze and grog aplenty was handed out; however, four did not stir from their misery. Mindchamber, Maus, Canas, and AfroNinja were all very silent, for there was something troubling them indeed.
Meanwhile...
April hurried down the hall. It was dark, and very well granted she was the wife of the King so she should have been able to go very well wherever she liked without hesitation, but this was a pressing matter and one that she wished would remain in secrecy.
A ornately dressed man was preparing himself, fumbling with buttons of some kind. He turned around, startled, then calmed down as he realised who it was.
"Hello April" Wade smiled. "Shouldn't Tom be around somewhere? Where is the lucky bastard anyway..."
"Wade..." She said, looking towards the ground, then back up at Wade. "There's something i need to tell you..."
"You're pregnant! Wait 'til the guys find out about that!" She rolled her eyes.
"You know, I've always liked the sound of 'Uncle Wade'..."
"Wade!" She hissed. "It's not that..."
His smile turned into a more somber expression and he replied. "What is it, April?"
She looked off, thinking to herself. Tom won't like me for this...but he should know too...
She looked up at him, and replied. "It's about the new layout..."
"So...it's ready?"
"No, Wade..." She paused, then went on. "It's something completely different altogether...
{Half an hour later}
"And that's what's happening to the layout." April turned around, hoping for a good reaction.
Wade was just staring into the corner, shaking his head.
"...No." He responded.
"Wade, please-" She went out to grab his arm, but he turned around, his eyes flaring.
"NO! I can't stand by and let him do this..." He turned away and ran off, to meet with an accomplice of his own...
"...And that's what i have planned for the layout." Tom ended the speech. He looked around the room, seeing very different expressions; JohnnyUtah was looking at Tom half seriously, half expecting this all to be a joke; Denvish was just shaking his head.
Tom knew them all to be shocked, but he saw that in time, they would come to forgive him, and Newgrounds would become an even stronger place than it once was. This took him back to the days of himself, when he was but a noble and cunning mageknight alone, in a world of his own.
