has anyone else seen this?
I didn’t understand the reason for this at all.
I’m a big CM Punk fan, but I’m not going to argue that he was in the right in any way, shape, or form to get into a fight without any actual physical altercation. Nobody was in the right during that incident.
But nonetheless, I don’t see that anything that Punk said was refuted based on what was shown, so it’s not like showing this proved him wrong in any way. As a lot of people who analyzed it said, you just popped a rating by using a guy who isn’t featured on your shows (Perry) and another guy who is making money for another company (Punk) to try to further an angle.
People wanted Punk and FTR to face the Elite after the All Out backstage fight, and for whatever reason they refused to make good money using real life issues. Even weirder, the Young Bucks (who weren’t directly involved in the All In fight) bring this up for their match against FTR (who are real-life friends with Punk).
This just seems petty and ended up resulting in the fans chanting for the guy who doesn’t work there anymore, and even got Tony Schiavone to recreate his reaction to Vince Russo’s promo on Hogan at Bash at the Beach 2000.
I’m just not understanding why a pro wrestling promotion would show a video of a not-worked backstage altercation. If I didn’t know either of these guys, I’d think that CM Punk was a badass. Plus now any backstage fight segment is a bunch of bullshit by acknowledging this one. And hopefully this doesn’t somehow turn into the introduction of the Mr. Khan character with an exaggerated strut to the ring.
