I’ll have to wait 30 days to see the rerun of Smackdown on Peacock. I saw my sign get on tv twice on YouTube clips. I’m imagining I got on during some of the entrances.

So of course everyone there that night was expecting that Stone Cold would come out and stop the Rock. That would’ve made sense between Rock and Austin, but I’m guessing Austin didn’t see the point of involving himself in this angle (at least for what he was offered).

In hindsight, it made sense that everyone who came out was involved with the Bloodline or Roman; Jey takes out Jimmy, Cena takes out Solo, and the Undertaker was beaten by Roman back at Wrestlemania 33. Plus, you can at least have him teleport to the ring instead of waiting for Austin to walk down (or maybe drive an ATV) down the ramp.

I’m guessing Brock Lesnar may have been factored in potentially, until the uhhhh… stuff happened.

Completely overbooked, but everyone was up screaming like maniacs the whole time.

Also the amount of smart fans who gasped when they showed pictures of Cody with the Young Bucks and Kenny Omega during the video before the match. Good for those guys; they finally got featured in front of a big audience.

Yep, on one hand it definitely isn't WCW 2000's level like a lot of people are saying - AEW will be fine and people will stop talking about it in a few weeks or so. But it is a huge backfire in my opinion, and Punk was proven right in pretty much everything he said in his recounting of the altercation outside of him not being physical first.

I didn’t understand the reason for this at all.

I’m a big CM Punk fan, but I’m not going to argue that he was in the right in any way, shape, or form to get into a fight without any actual physical altercation. Nobody was in the right during that incident.

But nonetheless, I don’t see that anything that Punk said was refuted based on what was shown, so it’s not like showing this proved him wrong in any way. As a lot of people who analyzed it said, you just popped a rating by using a guy who isn’t featured on your shows (Perry) and another guy who is making money for another company (Punk) to try to further an angle.

People wanted Punk and FTR to face the Elite after the All Out backstage fight, and for whatever reason they refused to make good money using real life issues. Even weirder, the Young Bucks (who weren’t directly involved in the All In fight) bring this up for their match against FTR (who are real-life friends with Punk).

This just seems petty and ended up resulting in the fans chanting for the guy who doesn’t work there anymore, and even got Tony Schiavone to recreate his reaction to Vince Russo’s promo on Hogan at Bash at the Beach 2000.

iu_1188321_1249162.gif

I’m just not understanding why a pro wrestling promotion would show a video of a not-worked backstage altercation. If I didn’t know either of these guys, I’d think that CM Punk was a badass. Plus now any backstage fight segment is a bunch of bullshit by acknowledging this one. And hopefully this doesn’t somehow turn into the introduction of the Mr. Khan character with an exaggerated strut to the ring.

Not to play devils advocate here, but Schiavone always kinda looks like that during Young Bucks segments.

Although I will say that even with that, he does still look embarrassed - although I think that's probably more-so due to him allegedly being the one that went up to CM Punk to ask him to talk to Jungle Boy (according to Punk). Also, god, Mark Madden in that gif lol... one of the worst commentators in wrestling!

Seeing people complaining to WWE a about prime bottle logo in the ring when they weren’t complaining about WCW having slim Jim’s logo in all 4 corners the their ring during Halloween havoc

Watching the video made me realize that AEW keeps screwing themselves over like this, and damage whatever goodwill they had left outside of their core audience. Outside of trying to hype up a tag team championship match at Dynasty, what was the point of all this, especially when they chanted CM Punk's name soon afterwards?

(I'm not absolving CM Punk in all this, but at this point, he's in a better place in WWE now, and he is on the proverbial injured list and probably a part-timer)

In the end, AEW chased off the wrong EVP and said EVP is the world champion in WWE. Oof.

Just stop worrying, and love the bomb.

I thought that was just a gimmick for Logan Paul during Wrestlemania. Granted I found that and the turnbuckle logos to be somewhat subtle. I find the security railing and ring skirt advertising to be way more annoying. I couldn’t get the “DUDE WIPES!” chants to take hold during Wrestlemania.

Thought it might be a neat idea to start posting thoughts on each show - gonna start with WWE RAW, 4/15/2024. Spoilers, obviously.

This was a really good RAW show with a hot Montreal crowd, which helps show why WWE wants to do more overseas show. An incredible Sheamus return with his old theme was just wonderful to see - even if the match itself was a bit bland, Sheamus himself looked great (despite what others may say) and it was a nice return. The tag match was pretty good, fine enough for an episode of RAW. R-Truth is always funny, even if the segment went a bit long, and the new tag team title designs that were revealed are much better than the old ones. The entire show was all well worth it for the very good Chad Gable vs Sami Zayn match - with an incredibly hot crowd and a hometown pop for Sami Zayn.

I thought it was a pretty decent long weekend of wrestling from both WWE and AEW. My highlights would have to be Sami Zayn vs Chad Gable vs Bronson Reed, Adam Copeland vs Malakai Black (though I could have done without the insane jump off the cage that caused Copeland's injury) and Bron Breakker on RAW was terrifying.

I’m keeping my fingers crossed that Rex Steiner (why aren’t they fucking calling him that!?!) is strapped to a rocket to the top of the company. Hopefully his uncle’s previous dealings with his nephew’s boss and his wife don’t sour any of his chances, but I would buy all the Bron Breakker merch if he started cutting angry promos a la Scott in late WCW. Don’t do the TNA math promo though; you can’t recreate that…
