-Mitsubishi- Complete Raw Recap - Part I

Article from: ProWrestling.com
Credit to: Bill Watson

The fireworks went off in the arena for the start of RAW as Joey Styles and Jerry Lawler welcomed us to the show! Tonight, Vince McMahon promises to take out the trash, and all week long newspapers nation wide have been reporting Ric Flair’s road rage incident, and tonight he will be the special guest on the debut edition of the “Cutting Edge”, plus Shawn Michaels will team with Shelton Benjamin to take on Carlito and Kurt Angle!

In the arena:

The music of Vince McMahon hit in the arena, and a garbage truck drove down the aisle with Vince driving it, and he looks set to take out the trash! The ring is decked out with a rep carpet, two podiums and a big leather chair in the middle. Vince got on the mic and said last week, he told Eric Bischoff that if he didn’t achieve his objectives, it would be time to take out the trash, and unfortunately he failed again last week, so what we have here is a trash truck, and the only thing that’s missing is the trash itself, so it’s time to face and the music and he introduced Eric Bischoff to the ring. Bischoff made his way down the aisle and he doesn’t look to be in good spirits here tonight. Bischoff took a microphone as the fans chanted “you suck” at him. Bischoff said this job is more to him than a job, this is not about what he does, this job is about who he is. He said that before this goes any further, he’s pleading with him to keep his job as General Manager of RAW. McMahon said before he goes any further, you might ask yourself why he has two podiums out here and a chair on a raised platform. He said he is a fair man, and he thinks everyone should have their day in court, because for the first time tonight, live on RAW, will be the trail of Eric Bischoff! He said he has appointed himself the judge, Bischoff is the defense and he has appointed a man to represent him…and he is…the music of the Coach then hit as he made his way down as Eric Bischoff’s defense attorney! Coach told Bischoff that he has this, and not to worry about a thing.

Vince sat in the leather chair as Coach said his client, Eric Bischoff, is an asshole! Bischoff looked confused as Coach went on to say Bischoff is not your friend, and does not get paid to be your friend. He gets paid to deliver the most exciting show in sports entertainment, and that’s exactly what he has done for four years, and by the end of the night, Coach will prove not only does Bischoff deserve to keep his job, but will also deserve a raise! McMahon then introduced the prosecution, and Mick Foley’s music hit! Foley made his way down, and instead of a briefcase, he had a lunchbox! The fans heavily chanted “Foley, Foley” as he took a mic and said he can honestly state that no one has done more to benefit RAW than Eric Bischoff. When Eric was running WCW, Bischoff announced live on air that Mick Foley, wrestling as Mankind, would win the WWE Championship. Eric tried to destroy the best night of his career, but instead, half a million fans switched from WCW programming to RAW and made a huge change in the Monday Night Wars and that was very generous, but as a General Manager, Bischoff is conniving and deceitful, and he will prove he has failed miserably in his attempts to entertain the general public. McMahon thanked them for the opening comments, and the trail will resume in the WWE court of law, in which by the end of the night, Eric Bischoff will keep his job, or it will be time to take out the trash!

World Tag Team Championship Match
Fatal Four Way Match
Referee: Mickey Henson
Val Venis and Viscera vs. The Heart Throbs vs.
Snitsky and Tyson Tomko vs. The Big Show and Kane (c)

Back on RAW and the music of the Big Show hit, and then Kane’s pyro exploded as they made their way to the ring as the World Tag Team Champions, and they are set to defend in a fatal four way here on RAW with Viscera and Val Venis, Snitsky and Tyson Tomko and the Heart Throbs! Styles announced that at Armageddon, Kane and Big Show will take on Batista and Rey Mysterio.

The start:

We are underway and Kane and Show started to clean house and then Show nailed a side slam on Venis while Viscera nailed a splash on Kane in the corner. Show and Viscera then got face to face and Kane nailed Viscera from behind. Kane and Show hit a double chokeslam on Viscera and then Snitsky got in the ring and they hit a double big boot to him. Antonio went for a crossbody but Show caught him and tossed him to the floor on top of Viscera.

The Finish:

Show brought Romeo into the ring and Kane nailed him with a clothesline and not Venis is back in. Show whipped Kane hard into Venis in the corner and then Show splashed him too! Tomko came in but got laid out and then Kane and Show grabbed Venis, Romeo and Tomko and gave them a triple chokeslam for the win! Kane and Show have destroyed everyone!

Winners, and still World Tag Team Champions, Kane and The Big Show

The Aftermath:

Kane hit his pyro as he and Show celebrated their victory.

WWE Court:

We are taken to the trial of Eric Bischoff, and it’s in some weird court room somewhere. Vince is the judge and Coach is sat with Bischoff while Foley is sat alone. Chris Masters is the bailiff, shirtless I might add. Foley approached the bench and called his first witness, Miss Stephanie McMahon! McMahon made her way out and Foley said Stephanie has been a General Manager in the past, and in her expert opinion did Bischoff behave in the correct manner. Stephanie said both she and her brother believe Eric Bischoff should be removed from office. We then go to the video footage, which is of Smackdown! in 2002 on Halloween, with Bischoff dressed as McMahon and then forced himself on Stephanie, and then Stephanie started to like it. Back to court, and Stephanie said Bischoff violated her and she hasn’t got the taste out of her mouth. Coach objected and Vince yelled “SHUT UP”.

WWE In Afghanistan:

We are taken to footage of WWE entertaining the troops last year in Iraq, and this year they will be doing the same in Afghanistan! Art Myers, the director of something or other, is shown watching the show.

Part II

Referee: Michael Chioda
Mickie James vs. Victoria

The music of Trish Stratus hit in the arena as she made her way to the ring as the Women’s Champion along with Mickie James, and Mickie will be in action here with Victoria who was accompanied by Torrie Wilson and Candice Michelle.

The start:

Mickie and Victoria locked up and Mickie went for a quick roll up for two. Mickie then nip a snapmare and a dropkick to the face. Victoria begged off, but then pulled Mickie into the ropes. Victoria stomped away on Mickie and then tossed her outside. Torrie and Candice went for her but Mickie fought them off. Mickie then nailed Victoria and tossed her back in the ring, but then walked into a powerslam. Victoria slammed Mickie face first into the canvas and then went to work with right hands.

Mid-match notes:

Victoria hit a bodyslam, and then stood on Mickie and hit the standing moonsault for two. Victoria slammed Mickie’s wrist into the turnbuckle and then took her down. Victoria worked on the arm but Mickie came back with forearm shots. Mickie then hit some left and right jabs, but then Victoria nailed her and Mickie’s wrist is hurt. Victoria ate an elbow in the corner and then Mickie hit the headscissors in the corner. Mickie nailed a pair of clotheslines and then a flying forearm and covered for two.

The Finish:

Mickie hit a spinning back kick, a front kick and then a spin kick and then pulled Torrie into the ring. Mickie stomped on Torrie and then hit another spin kick to Victoria. Candice then got on the apron and while Mickie was distracted with her, Victoria rolled up Mickie for the win.

Winner - Victoria

The Aftermath:

Trish entered the ring and Mickie looked pissed towards Trish for not helping her, but they made up.

WWE Court:

Back in court and Tajiri in is there talking a bunch of Japanese. A translator says Tajiri has been a huge star in Japan and ECW but Bischoff ignores this. She says he wishes a pregnant rhinoceros shoves a mighty horn up his anal crevice. Tajiri then says “Bischoff, I hope you get fired!” Coach says he has no question for Tajiri, but they have a request, and Tajiri needs to get back to the arena as soon as possible because he has a match with Triple H! Tajiri is pissed as Foley called his next witness, and it’s Mae Young with the Fabulous Moolah!

Back on RAW:

Back on RAW and Mae is babbling about a penis, and Coach said there is no evidence that Bischoff doesn’t have a penis. Foley said he can prove that Bischoff has had a strange relationship with WWE superstars and we go to footage of Mae Young making out with Bischoff at Bad Blood 2003 in the Red Neck Triathlon. Coach said the witness is old, senile and over sexed. Vince said the witness may step down as Coach called his witness, and it’s a RAW superstar who was hand picked by Bischoff, our very own bailiff Chris Masters. Masters took the stand and Coach asked his name and he said “Chris Masters” and Vince said this witness has committed perjury and his name is Mordetsky not Masters, and he is disqualified!

Backstage:

Shelton Benjamin is shown getting ready and Shawn Michaels comes in. He said Shelton has a home state crowd, and he has to have a good showing. Michaels put over Benjamin’s accomplishments and then said a career in WWE has amounted to a big fat zero. He said the night he faced Michaels he was never better and took him to the limit, and since then he has been going downhill and downhill fast. Michaels said in this line of work, no one is better than him, he might not be all that popular but he’s successful. He asked Benjamin if he wants friends of success, and asked him what he’s going to do about it. Benjamin said Michaels wants an attitude? Then you’ll get an attitude. Michaels looked pleased as he has fired Benjamin up here tonight.

WWE Court:

Coach said he has just got off the phone with a witness, and he will be here in a few moments.

Referee: Chad Patton
Lance Cade vs. Chavo Guerrero

Back on RAW and Lance Cade is already in the ring set for action, and he will be facing Chavo Guerrero!

The start:

Chavo and Cade locked up and Chavo backed him to the corner but Cade reversed and then hit a knee to the gut. Cade ate a boot on a corner charge and then Chavo went to work with lefts and rights and an uppercut. Cade then tossed Chavo to the outside and followed out and nailed Chavo in the back and then picked him up and rammed him into the ring post. Cade tossed Chavo back inside as the fans chanted “Eddie, Eddie” in support of Chavo.

The Finish:

Cade hit a backbreaker for a two count and then slapped him around some. Chavo then nailed a standing dropkick and then a nice uppercut. Chavo went to work with right hands on Cade but then Cade rammed him into the corner. Cade kicked away at Chavo and then choked him in the corner before going for a suplex but Chavo reversed into a DDT! Chavo then went up top and came off with the Frog Splash for the win!

Winner - Chavo Guerrero

The Cutting Edge:

Follow this link. This portion is REALLY long and can't be copied within one post!

Referee: Mickey Henson
Tajiri vs. Triple H

Back on RAW and Tajiri is in the ring ready for action, and he’ll be facing Triple H!

The start:

We are underway with Tajiri going to work with kicks in the corner. Tajiri went for the handspring but Triple H hit a clothesline to the back of the neck. Triple H worked over Tajiri in the corner with right hands and then nailed a vertical suplex. Triple H mocked Tajiri and then charged at him in the corner but Tajiri nailed some chops and then hit the handspring elbow.

The Finish:

Tajiri went for the Tarantula in the corner but Triple H tossed Tajiri outside and then whipped him hard into the barricade. Back in the ring and Triple H hit a superkick but then ran into a spinebuster. Triple H went for the Pedigree and nailed it for the win.

Winner - Triple H

Hey, wait a minute.

Was the Montreal Incident just a storyline, or was it a real thing that happened that Hart and HBK don't like each other IRL for?

That was all real my friend, Bret Hart despises HBK. Just some bad mix-ups where HBK got the better end of the stick, as he deserved.

The bret/hbk story will be one of those things that will stand out in wrestling history forever. i guess to get the real scoop you'll need to read the hbk book. Though mick foley also did a pretty good job explaining it from his point of view.

kinda.... sorta... not really

And it REALLY ended Hart's career.

huh? no....

Oh my.

my guess is that your not too familiar with this story huh? Well I guess I could give telling it a try. knowing me there will be some stuff left out so thoes who also know it, orbetter yet have more info like what was put in teh hbk book or bret hart dvd are more than welcome to add to it. in fact, i'll do a gist of it really, as dates and such tend to escape me. the death of wcw also does an excellent job of this story.

This all starts with wcw and eric bishof surprisingly enough. See eric had been luring talent away from both wwf and ecw as we all know but eric had always wanted Bret on his roster. Vince knowing this signed Bret to a exceedingly huge deal to prevent this. As teh monday night wars raged on and with wwf getting beat by such hot items as the nwo he could not go through with his deal with bret and eric was there to offer a higgher deal. So Bret decided to jump to wcw. A big problem wa that he was currently the wwf champ. Vince did not want his belt to go and tried to get bret to drop the title to hbk but Bret did not want that as he really did hate shawn for whatever reason he had. Bret tried to come up with other stuff and vince shot it down, vince tried to come up with stuff and bret shot it down. so in the end they decided he would vacate the title after his next ppv match with shawn. He in no way wanted to lose as it was in his home town of montreal, and more inportantly to him he did not want to lose to shawn. They proceded to have a great match as thay had done in the past, but when it came to a spot where hbk put bret in the sharpshooter, the ref earl hebner rang the bell and said that bret submitted and vince came out and gave teh belt to shawn. Bret was so angry he told vince when he got to the back "I'm going to take a shower. If your still here when I'm done I'm going to slug you in the face." or something to that effect. Well vince was still there allright and Bret lived up to his promise and decked vince.

For years shawn claimed to have nothing to do with it, but that was probably a lie, I'm not too sure on this point. Anyway Bret did go to wcw, and in true wcw form they did nothing with him. he never got the true push he should have gotten there since everybody in the wretling world knew about the screw job and all eyes would be on bret and wcw missed it's opotunity. As things turned out, this was the birth of the evil vince character which everyone knows was a huge part of the attitude era and one of the reasons wwf came back from losing the wars to kicking some major ass.

Bret got a concussion in the ring from Goldberg, who was starting to be known for being far too stiff in the ring, and the injury was so bad that he can never wrestle again. Chris Nowinski (anyone remember him?) has also gotten a similar injury to this effect which is why he isn't wrestling anymore either.

so this is why Shawn, Vince and Hebner are absolutly hated in Canada.

I'm sure there are some details missing, if anyone wants to fill in the gaps go right ahead.

At 12/7/05 12:23 AM, cornontheconn wrote:

Ok, you got some things mixed up, so let me correct you.

Oh my. So they REALLY hated each other.

Oh yes, Shawn's side of the story (which I tend to believe as I've said before) is that he never really had a problem working with Bret up until Shawn was to get the WWF title. Shawn says that Bret took being champion too seriously, and while he was telling Shawn "I'm only going to publicly insult you to get heat for the match" and Shawn was fine with this, Bret began bringing Shawn's family into it, and calling Shawn's character a homo. When Shawn confronted Bret, Bret apologized only to do the same thing over and over. Post-WM 12, Bret Hart left the company, did not even shake Shawn's hand after the match, as is customary. When he came back, there was still a lot of heat, because Bret was still bad mouthing Shawn, then making half-hearted apologies until Shawn finally said "look, I do not want to work with you, or deal with your garbage. You apologize, tear me down, apologize, and then tear me down again. I'm fed up, stay away from me!". Tensions got so bad that Bret and Shawn got into a fight in the back (Bret asked Shawn, and I qoute from the book: "What's your fucking problem?" Shawn's reply, "You!" then Bret attacked him, and they were ultimately pulled apart). Most people took Bret's side, and after the fight, any ability to book them for WM 13 in a return bout (the plan originally) was scrapped (it's interesting to note that this instance, plus the MSG "Curtain Call" punishment on Triple H helped to propel Steve Austin to the top of the industry, as according to Shawn, Hunter would have won King of the Ring that year, NOT Stone Cold). Bret and Shawn's animosity continued into the end of Bret's run, promos cut to help hype the Survivor Series '97 match were COMPLETE shoots (real) according to Shawn.

And it was a REAL sharpshooter.

No, it wasn't. Let's discuss really quick in brief what happened in Montreal that night, and more importantly, how we got there: Bret had negotiated a 20 year contract that Vince could not pay him (according to Shawn's book, Vince was held up by Bret for this contract, 20 years, at 1.5 million a year, a sore point for Shawn as Shawn had a handshake deal with Vince that no one would make more money then Shawn, except Taker, and he also felt then and now he is a better worker then Bret), Vince then suggested Bret talked to WCW, and get a deal with them, which he did. Vince gave Bret total creative control for the last 30 days of his contract (Bret has alledged that Vince made attempts to bury him, by leaking the fact that he was leaving to the fans, I can't confirm or deny that, but I would suggest that it may have just been somebody within the company who liked to talk to the internet and dirt sheets, lord knows there's never been a shortage of those. Though it could have been Vince himself, it just seems unlikely to me). When it came time for Bret's final match, the event was the Survivor Series in Montreal, Bret refused to drop the WWF title that night, claiming he was such a hero in Canada, it would damage the country's very psyche if he lost (I shit you not, Bret has even admitted this was his reasoning...the EGO involved in that is astounding to me...), what could Vince do? He called Shawn and told him that the finish would be a DQ and Bret would come to RAW the next night and drop the belt gracefully (Bret's contract ended at Survivor Series, let's be very clear on that point, as clear as Charles Dickens wanted us to be about how Jacob Marley was dead, to begin with. Bret was under NO contractual obligation to appear the next night, Vince only had his word). Triple H was apparently listening on the other line, and said "what are we doing? We've seen people go over there and drop belts in the garbage (a refference to former Women's Champ Alundra Blayze who had done exactly that on a live Nitro), we can't afford to let that happen to the WWF title!" Vince said he was right, but what could they do? That's when the plan went into action, and Shawn said "we'll swerve (screw, cheat, pick a definition for anytime you deceive someone) him". They weren't sure how, because Shawn and Bret needed to sit down and discuss the finish, but they decided that if Shawn got a cover, he'd hold Bret down with all his might, and they'd just fast count him, or if Shawn were to get Bret in a hold, they'd have the ref call for the bell. Vince said everything needed to be kept between them, and that Vince wanted the heat put onto him if it was going to be done. When Bret discussed the match with Shawn, he said Shawn should get him in a sharpshooter at one point, and then Bret would grab his leg and reverse it, that's where Shawn knew the opening was, and said he stopped listening to anything else Bret said after. He called Vince and told him the plan, then they informed Earl Hebner, and Gerry Brisco and Shane also knew what was going on. When Shawn put Bret into the sharpshooter, Earl did his job and rung the bell, Bret had been screwed, and everything that follows after is a complete 100% shoot. The hold was not a real hold, Bret was in the process of reversing as Earl got the bell rung. Vince took the heat, but so did Shawn, though Vince told him to deny he knew anything (which Shawn did until a few years ago just before he returned). Bret went to WCW the next day, and Vince cut the infamous "Bret screwed Bret" promo, and used the legit heat he got from it to create Mr. Mcmahon.

And it REALLY ended Hart's career.

No, it ended Bret's WWE career. His in-ring career was ended by an errant kick to the head from Bill Goldberg which resulted in a massive concussion. Should Bret step into the ring again, especially after the subsequent stroke he suffered, he could very well die if he is hit too hard on the head.

Oh, and the "shower punch" according to Shawn was not Vince being decked, since Vince knew Bret would hit him, Vince took a dive just as Bret was connecting, so he avoided most of the contact, and said to Bret "I owed you that, but you left me with no other choice, you didn't do business the right way"

I'm really surprised at how some of you know so much about the Montreal Screwjob...even I didn't know that much about it & I've been watching wrestling since I was 4.....

Anyway, you basically got the nail on the head. Here it is in simple terms:

1) Vince signed a virtually impossible-to-keep contract with Bret.

2) Vince set up a match at Survivor Series where the loser loses his job 4 the WWF Championship.

3) The original plan was 4 Bret to counter a sharpshooter and get the submission, but Shawn, Vince & Earl Hebner (ref) contemplated a way to screw Bret over and make him lose his job....by NOT giving Bret teh chance to counter and immediately ringing the bell the moment the sharpshooter was locked in.

All the other details are simple links between these 3 events. I sugest u read the above descriptions or check www.wikipedia.org for a full description...

go HBK, go!

I don't know what to tell you. Only time will tell. Considering that HHH will be occupied with Big Show (Kane), HBK will have to deal with Benjamin. The only option now is Edge. According to www.prowrestling.com, Edge is not 100% because of injures. So I suppose that WWE will have to wait until Edge is 100% and he will use his money in the bank. But until then, wigger Cena will keep his belt.

I think Michaels was painfully honest on just about everything ever in his career, and it was pretty interesting to realize this guy I grew up kind of idolizing has a lot of the same mentality about life and such that I do. Don't listen to Bret Hart and what he said, truth be told, Shawn dosen't say ANYTHING in this book that I haven't either heard about Bret from other wrestlers who have worked with him (like Ric Flair) or seen Bret put out there himself. I highly, highly recommend this book, it's a wonderful read, and I think people will walk away from it with a new appreciation for HBK, I came in a huge fan, and walked out an even bigger fan.

Ah, so you got the book too? Fucking sweet! I just finished my copy of it today. All I have to say is, "Holy shit. That's a hell of a story." Anyhow, I grew up watching Taker and HBK. I suddenly am becoming a bigger fan of HBK.

Well, I am very shocked on the fact that they released Christy Hemme. Damn, she is so fucking hot! Now, the whole thing on "the Cutting Edge" was stupid. I think the last part where Sgt. Slaughter and that other guy (cant remember his name.) wasnt part of the show. But, thats just my opinion. Course, that segment sucked. They should stop that. Anyhow, whats happening on SD! Friday?

His name is Michel Hayes. He managed the Freebirds. And the Hardys when they had their fued with the brood and got them their first tag team title run.

Shawn did what a lot of guys before him, and after him have done. Did it help him? Yeah, but Shawn was already a huge star. The reason why I think in the end, Montreal was a good decision was that Bret did not have to wake up the next morning and work for Vince, Shawn and everyone else did. Could they have trusted Bret? Probably, but then again, who really knows? It's sure sounded to me from a lot of things I've heard and read about/from Bret, that what Bret really cares about is himself, his legacy, and how he's perceived. Not to mention, title forfeits at that time were, and are still, not great for business. It devalues the belt, and the next guy to get the title because in the eyes of the fan's, and certainly it's a trueism, that he did not beat the champ. It's the same thing in the boxing world when a champion is forced to forfeit a title, the guy who wins the forfeited belt comes off as a "paper champion". It would have been different if the belt was dropped, and Michaels would have a chance to get the heat back in a return bout, but Bret wanted to forfeit, leave, and more then likely he would have AT THE LEAST gone over to WCW and cut a promo to the effect of saying he was the REAL WWF champ, and Michaels wasn't. Bret did bad business, it's a shame what happened, and it's absolutely wrong that Vince has since milked that finish for cheap heat in Montreal, Canada, but to me? That night, Bret put them in a shitty situation, and frankly, Vince made him the star that he was, he should have done what was right, the time honored tradition of dropping the belt with grace, waving bye bye, and moving on.

That's just one man's opinion though, you're mileage may vary. That's why we're still talking about Montreal after all these years after all anyway.

Hayes was also a Freebird, he and Terry Gordy were the main two if I remember correctly, and the third guy (I'm temporarily name blanking) was an alternate when neccessary.

It is also correct that Hayes's original job in WWE was an announcer on "Superstars" going by the name of Doc Hendrix.
