Correction, I'm the only one who'll admit to it proudly.
*waits for next big rpg*

All "new" RPGs available are just repackaged content, so it would seem.

Mind you, if it's done right it the outcome can be better than the original.
...and I can't find a good example...

Hey guys, did you know that through the same logic as Fallout 3, Sonic Unleashed (360, PS3) is an rpg too?
Sounds a bit awesome, but I don't consider Fallout 3 to be an rpg, just because it has rpg elements.

Before I knew anything about Fallout 3 I thought it was a normal shooter.
I still think this as I haven't read up enough about it. And I most probably will not, as I have no intention to get it. Yet.

There are many games that a few elements from other genres to appear more appealing to a broader audience. Times must be hard, eh?

Sure is silent in here...

Alright, wow. Please tell me somebody else had trouble dealing with Belius in Nordopolica. You have to go through a sea of Hunting Blades just to get to her, and then she splits in two a ways into the fight. I was going to die regardless if she had stayed as one, but when she split, it was just too much. So, any tips? Like, go for either Belius or her double first? Keep knocking them down?

Also, did anyone ever notice that they can't seem to decide what gender Belius is in-game? The party refers to her as a man and a woman at different points leading up to the fight. The more you know.

Alright, got from the fight with Belius to the Krityan City. And, I have a few things to report.
1) Estelle would like to bounce.
2) Yuri's a total hypocrite. HE says about Judith while she's not in the party, "if one part becomes infected, you cut it off before the infection can spread to the whole". And this is exactly what Pharaoh says about Estelle. But then Yuri goes off on a power trip about what give Pharaoh the right to pass judgment, which is exactly what Yuri did with Ragou and Cumore.
3) Repede's an Entelixaia. I'm calling it.

I know I spelled that wrong.

Well, It's only speculation at this point. And it may stay speculation if I can't get past Schwann. I think he's the hardest boss so far, if only due to his ungodly amount of HP. That, and the fight is already over if he kills three party members. I wish I had Estelle back...

Without a healer, I can't do anything.

repede=total badass...like zelos mixed with a bunch of other badasses.

shit im back...schwann, yeah he is a problem... you need to combo that bitch..keep rita in the back and have her do spells like spash thats good for combo's, when he overlimits stay the fuck away from him and try not to be in the plus range (hard as fuck to do)... it kills and tags people in that + like fashion as well, hp isnt really a problem though...block his when he closes in on you, apocalypse toll landing on you makes you self destructing time bomb...if your tagged you can back dash to avoid damage with good timing i think...or block...prepare for massive item usage, and keep your tp up, schwann will beast it out of you...try to avoid running away when your on the defensive, ill wind will grind you down...and importantly make sure you abuse overlimits...you dont need savage wolf fury but its a great finish....you can hurt him and fuck his day up right after his mystic art, but remember he still has that shield...i had yuri, judith, repede, and rita...repede is a great second for combo's and thats important, judith knocks him down and shining fang can do some decent hp damage on grounded opponents..best of luck to you.

repede isnt a entele whatever the fuck its spelled...just one really kick ass dog...

Damn, I thought I had that one pegged, too... I mean, It would explain a whole bunch of things, like, how he's blue, how he can smoke a pipe, and how he hate's Estelle. But, I got past Schwann on my fourth try, and barreled through to Zaphias Castle.

Did anyone else find the boss of the Blade Drifts of Zopheir ridiculously hard? And Zagi piss easy?

For the Zopheir boss, I beat him on my first try. I had to use all 15 life bottles, and Karol didn't live through it, but I did it. And I didn't have to use any life bottles for Zagi on the Heracles. And you're not exactly instilling confidence in me, grey. I've found a lot of Vesperia's bosses to be really hard, but now you're just making me excited/nervous.
`
Anyways. While I'm thinking about it, I'm going to use this post to talk about two other things. First. Anyone know where I can buy a Gency's Exit in Disgaea? I need a lv.10 weapon, but only got to the 9th level and used my last Exit. So, that would be helpful, thanks.
`
Also, I'm having more trouble deciding which Tales games I like more. The Symphonia games were more epic, but Vesperia focuses on character development and intrigue more. They're all great games, but I'm not sure which one is the best. Preliminary order is this:
Symphonia
Vesperia
Dawn of the New World.
`
And a third thing. Can anyone here highly recommend Tales of the Abyss? I've always been interested in that game, but never tried it out. Thanks again.

Hopefully that's all.

its not a party without those hard ass bosses...oh shit you'll love alexei, i love that boss music...then again i like the music in vesperia its as epic as symphonia's stuff....and dont worry your almost done alexei is like 70% of the game, and your about to deal with him, man 15 bottles at zepheir your a beast or at least had judith in your party instead of rita...at that point you need raven because of love shot, he does a better job healing then estelle's inept ass!

you cant buy gency exits, you can only get them every boss floor in item world its the first thing in bonus you see.

vesperia didnt have much for character development except everyone changed by the end of the game...
symphonia was awesome, I'LL KILL ALL THE DESIANS!!! the bastard did it too.
dawn of the new world...i havent gotten into it totally...decus pisses me off with his unnecessary body movements.

And a third thing. Can anyone here highly recommend Tales of the Abyss? I've always been interested in that game, but never tried it out. Thanks again.

tales of the abyss is a must have, its the first tales game to have free run, and the games character development makes the story deeper...get that shit.

Totally. I just got done fighting Jaeger in the Enduring Shrine, and he was one of the funnest fights yet. He wasn't hard per se, but the tension that he just never died, and the fear of him catching all of my people in Caress of Death was just great. I'm still trying to figure out where Gauche and Droite fit into the equation, though. And at Zopheir, I had Judith and Rita in my party. And yeah, I didn't know Raven could heal until Estelle left the party. Also, Estelle's like, incredibly good now. She's got all these new artes like Healing Circle and Angel Ring, and they make every fight so much easier.

Aw man, that sucks. I don't really know what you mean by boss floor, either. It would be great if you could elaborate a little more.

No, I really enjoyed Yuri taking justice into his own hands, and the fact that he's fairly dark for a Tales protagonist. (Darker than Emil and Lloyd, anyway.) As for Symphonia, I think it'll always be my favorite RPG. Skies of Arcadia was the first RPG I played, but when I played Symphonia, that was all she wrote. Fantastic game. And personally, I had more fun with Dawn of the New World than I had with Symphonia or Vesperia. I still consider both of them better games, but, DotNW just had a charm to it. And how can you not like Decus?

Awesome, thanks. I don't know when I'll get it though. I still have to beat Vesperia, Disgaea and Chrono Trigger. And after that I was thinking of buying Guild Wars. But then again, Abyss would probably be a safer buy....wait. Is it only for the PS2? If so, than shit just hit the fan.

yeah she is better, until she spams attack artes instead of healing, this game is mysteriously cool.

Aw man, that sucks. I don't really know what you mean by boss floor, either. It would be great if you could elaborate a little more.

every 10 floors in item world has a item boss..they are item boss, item king, and item god...
item king is for every 30 floors and item god is in the 100th floor, so in all you can get 10 gency's max in a item world unless you going in the 10th floor and reintering...you can tell its a boss floor bye the change in music compared to the normal floors.

its like raphael from soul calibur, *spasm* im gonna cut you in petals *dances again* wtf?
and yuri one of the best protagonist ever in my opinion, no one that badass since laharl and Lloyd.
and symphonia was fun and cartoony and i loved it, it was like a anime...and that attracted me to vesperia, Dawn had something else...when i see knux and his wii again i'll abuse it.

One of you change your aura to Fab or something.
I have this pet peeve about too much of one aura in a thread.
Vesperia = Abyss > Symphonia > DoNW
But Symphonia is still my favorite for nostalgia purposes.

Guild Wars is actually impressing me a whole lot more than WoW. It's a lot more cinematic, and at least it has some semblance of a story. That, and I love the henchman feature. It's great for me because I've never really want to play with other people.

Got the new Nintendo Power today, the RPG Special. New RPGs showing promise are:
Avalon Code
Valkyrie Profile: Covenant of the Plume
Sands of Destruction
Arc Rise Fantasia
Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon
Phantasy Star 0
This year is going to be great, trust me.

By all rights, it should be one of, if not the top Wii game this year. Many head people who worked on Tales of Symphonia are working on Fantasia, and it's being developed by ImageEpoch, the people who made the Luminous Arc games. That, and it sounds fantastic. Also, big reasons I'm looking forward to Avalon Code, Sands of Destruction, and Valkyrie Profile are because of there story line being incredibly bloody or having to do with the heroes bringing about the apocalypse.

...Then how did I beat Jaeger on my first try? I see no way of me bringing in Rita for this fight, because that would mean giving up Judith, and that's not going to happen. And while I agree that his only threatening moves are Guardian Frost and Brilliant Cataclysm, he uses them a ton. Whenever he goes into OD halfway through the fight, he will use one of them. And running away from Brilliant Cataclysm is mostly impossible. It's impossible to tell when he'll go into OD, and when he does, Yuri is probably whaling on him. This knocks Yuri (and Judith) down, and Raven and Estelle are usually in range for when he uses Brilliant Cataclysm immediately afterward. There were times where he went into OD and using BC was the first thing he did.

And I doubt more levels would help, seeing as how I'm only using one or two life bottles before he uses BC.

hmm when i did it he did it 3 times tops.
guardian frost can be beaten by magic, rita's splash owns everyone....but gusios but its not about him today, if he is od'ing alit then study his hp to see what time he does it and run when his hp hits around that mark, the reason you run is because 1-2 target better then whole party, or you not getting hit..on the higher dificulties he uses this as wear and tear as he goes overlimit every 50000 hp or so, back on track back on track, you should have lone wolf charge around this time, put allemic and gale on and start using lone wolf swarm, its a godsend, a deadly knockdown with some range, i'd rather not use judtith for this fight because she's inflexible for combo's with yuri, karol has great power to knock him out stagger but the fucker is slow. make sure you use overlimit spam from raven or rita...i did this fight with yuri, estelle, rita, repede, and it went with no problems outside his usual spunk, just remember if a boss overlimit, run so you dont suffer with the rest of the party or take the rest of the party with you, yaeger's moveset made him hard to deal with, alexiei doesnt have that...pummel that shit.

Lucky you.

No, no Lone Wolf Charge. I'm only lv. 42 with everybody; if you happened to know when I got it, that would be nice.

, put allemic and gale on and start using lone wolf swarm, its a godsend, a deadly knockdown with some range, i'd rather not use judtith for this fight because she's inflexible for combo's with yuri,

Actually, I found Judith a little useful. Because, whenever I had to use an item, or Yuri had to stop fighting for a moment for any reason, Judith kept the combo going. When I tried the fight with Rita, I had no problems for the first half of the fight, as in I used no Life Bottles. However, replacing Judith with Rita allowed Alexei to spam Guardian Frost. And when I say spam, I mean I'd never seen him use it that much. He used it about 12 times before he killed me with BC.

I'm thinking next time I fight, I'll use Yuri, Judith, Estelle, and Rita. Rita was pretty useful, and the only thing Raven does is live through BC occasionally. But, whatever, I'll figure it out.
Also, in other news. What I forgot to mention from the NP RPG special was that there is a new Tales game in the works for the Wii.

Anybody else excited. Also, the name has not been released, just footage.
