It is an odd sensation, but they definitely aren't floating. I remember a few other childish tricks, but they are extremely hard to describe over the internet.

Why would the circulation of blood in your hands have anything to do with your brain? Everyone's heard stories of peoples hands/feet/fingers/whatever falling off due to stopped circulation, and in none of those stories has the brain been mentioned.
