3 weeks should be plenty of time, I don't see why so many people are rushing with it!

Mine shall be submitted when it's completed! Just gotta work out a few things with it first!

I have some feedback on this contest, and it might be harsh, but I'll try to give reasoning for everything I say.
First off, you disqualified a piece for "sucking so bad", which I find plain stupid, seeing as that does nothing but contribute to an elitist community. "No new people are allowed to participate, as we don't want bad songs." SBB might not be "new" in that order, but I see it as ridiculous that he was disqualified.
Second, why is there even a 2-5 minute rule?
When a piece is finished, no matter the length, it should remain finished.
You're all composers yourselves, and you know that sometimes, you just have this feeling that "It's finally completed after all this work", and I don't see any freedom given by this rule, limiting the submissions, as well as personal touches.
I can see your arguement going like "It's supposed to be a challenge", but then again, isn't these for fun? to see how far you can push yourselves?
Also, this is a remixing contest, That's true, BUT, the way you put things you can't really alter the melodies at all, giving even LESS freedom to add personal touches.
And there's really no rules about remixing.
Go to www.ocremix.org, where the "elite" of remixers are located, and if you listen through their stuff, you'll find it that they alter melodies all the time, making it sound even better.
As long as your rules are not reconsidered, I'll refrain from participating in the MRAC.

Dude the rules are mostly for your benifit 1st off there has to be a noob rule as in they would like to have somebody with audio experience and if you have but are new to newgrounds then exeptions will be made.

better off remix

i just wanna enetr this song =P if it gets dnied again o well no hard feeling here

Response to Mrac 06 December 2006-12-13 12:53:34

Alright guys, I gotta sort this out before you guys get confused.

Yeah, Housemasta really didn't mean to disqualify that piece. It was an attempt to tell you guys you really should spend time on the remixes. However, since I'm running it and he's entering, let me set a few things straight.

1) Only I, XBrav, will have the ability to disqualify contestants this month.

2) I will check all the entries this week, and will veto any decisions of disqualifaction due to "bad quality" or whatever.

3) If you chose to change your entry, you may do so but only before the final date. After that, all edits will be denied.

4) Only songs who do not meet the requirements will be disqualified. If there is a disqualification, I will post a brief summary why in this thread and you can PM me if you have any questions or wish to talk it out

5) If you are unsure if your piece qualities, check the rules and then PM me and I'll listen over it to make a decision

6) If you do get disqualified, I will help you fix it up so that it will qualify. Remember, I'm your friend haha.

Let's not create any more issues here guys. I made the contest as straight forward as I can. And next month, I want to simplify these rules. So don't go nit picking at it, or we'll never get funding for awsome prizes (like $250 and t-shirts!)

*sigh* ya know one person will say it's a remix competition and people think the original can be anything.

It's a nice remix of Alice Deejay, but dude this contest is revolving around actually submitting a remix that is remixing the chorus we provide, not just any song. It would qualify for a different contest of some sort, but it really doesn't follow any of the rules of the competition.

I don't want to be a jerk, but are ya entering just for the sake of being in a contest, or are you actually thinking this follows the rules? Plus, if it happens again, it's almost like advertising in the thread. Not cool.

Sorry Dj-Fanta5t1c I can't accept it. PM me if ya have any questions.

Question!

Does the entire song need to use that melody, or can we switch to different melodies at times?

I'm cool with different melodies with it. I just don't want the chorus we wrote to be one bar followed by a different melody for 17, ya know? It's cool as long as it balances out. Go for it!

I imported one of the MIDIs into FL, but how do you change the tempo without it resetting itself back to 140? I usually don't do remixes so I'm not experienced with this stuff.

right click the 140.00 tempo and go to "edit events" then hit Ctrl+A and then press delete. X out of that screen and then you can set it to whatever.

i will be an admin to this as i have not submitted, but chances are i will later on

This month HouseMasta and I (XBrav) have offered our three options, mostly due to the fact we were stuck in a stalemate for decision.

The three options are:

Option 1: Written by XBrav
Option 2: Written by HouseMasta
Option 3: Written by HouseMasta

What are theses option things anyway. I have never heard of this competition before, so I need lots of detail of what is going on.

Response to Mrac 06 December 2006-12-14 09:43:13

So XBrav, the midi that was supplied!

that doesn't have to be the main melody/verse, but instead it's for the chorus?

or can it be either? what's the preference on that?
