Anyone having login problems? 2006-11-01 17:50:06

I've gotten a few reports of people having problems with the new login box, like:

-- the box at the top of the page will say they're logged in, but the page itself won't
-- the box at the top of the page will say they're logged in as one user, but the page below will claim they're logged in as another

I'm having trouble reproducing these problems, but I want to get them ironed out ASAP. If you've had any of these problems, can you send me a PM or e-mail (see my sig below) and give me as much specific detail as possible about how it happened - which page(s) you were on, did you log out of one account and into another, did you close one window and open another, etc.

Thanks! Any help is appreciated.

No problems here.

People should clear their cache if they are having problems.

One was when I put in the right password for my name, but it wouldn't log in, even when I tried it multiple times. It hasn't happened to me for a long time though. Oh, but the pages would act like as if I was logged in.

I've personally noticed no issues as I've got mine set to remain logged in unless I tell it otherwise.
But - I've seen a few people come into the chatroom and complain that it seems to be taking an exceptionally long time to log in, if this is any help?

Yeah, it says Im logged in, but If I click account options it says log in. Also, it says Im logged into my old name everyonce in awhile, but I think thats just because I need to clear my cache.

I hope you get to the problem soon. When I click the account options page I have to enter my password to view it.

OK, I may have figured out what this was. Let me know if anyone else runs into these problems, going forward.

Ross, did you implement something that makes a more secure log-in? Because mine is doing funny things and it says 'checking log-in', something that has never come up before. Will this prevent all the scares of account security?

Work - IE6 running Windows XP -

Will not let me log in with the header. It just says 'Logging in.......' forever. I have to use one of the moderator pages to sign in.

Everything works at home on Firefox in OS X 10.2.8. Safari is buggy, but it's an ancent version, so blah.

The only problem that I have is that Logged in as Suicidal-kid is all on one line, it was on 2.

So it was like "Logged in as" on top, then Suicidal-kid under that. I like it like that.

But no, I am not (as of yet) having any log in problems.

the only problem I've been having is that sometimes when I go to a different page it logs me out.

Response to Anyone having login problems? 2006-11-01 19:09:51

The only wierd thing I've experienced is that I can't log out. Not that is matters, but I assumed that should I ever want to log out, that I could.

mailb0x is the right one. After all, I could clearly think that if you had thought before putting out youre password IN PUBLIC, then I wouldn't have tried it!!!

No, but it had a weird new look last time I logged in. Instead of refreshing the page, there was a small note saying "Logging in..." and then my account options were there. Is this something new?

I hit a few hick-ups where it says I'm logged in but I'm really not.

But, I think I just need to clear my cache. It happens from time to time...

Every once in a while, it will say "logged in as -1 "

I have no idea why, I dont have any alt accounts.

And it also says "checking log-in status" right? It does that for me too!
