I have seen Bobobo, and to this day I wish I could un-see it. The manga was part of the reason why I cancelled my subscription to Shonen Jump.

Wow, it was that bad? Looks like I will remove it from my list.

The Viz release of Bobobo started with volume 9 of the manga and labeled it as volume 1

(which is pretty confusing considering you are missing a large chunk of the story by starting there).

plus the manga used a lot of jokes during the first half of the series, that don't translate well in english, or that don't make any sense if you didn't know what was going on in japanese pop culture when the manga came out.

The second half of the manga as well as the entirety of the anime used different kind of gags though, like the movie, manga and anime parodies.

I don't think the Viz release of the manga got too far before they canceled it.

the anime for it is good though, but you shouldn't go into it expecting anything serious from it.

Think of it like, if someone made a parody, comedy, action manga/anime while they were high, and the characters were too. It's whacky off the wall fun.

Welcome to NewGrounds.

I currently follow Boruto (mainly for Mitsuki and Kawaki) and I'm desperately waiting for Hunter x Hunter to return. I also like Dragon Ball, Haikyu and BNHA

Boruto has become one of my new favorites. Hunter x Hunter is also great as well. Dragon Ball has had many series and and have been mostly positive.

Its nice to see other people watching Naruto's son as well. Do you follow the manga at all?

I was planning on giving The Promised Neverland a go as well. Anyone watched the first ep yet?

It is a good. I could see some people not wanting to give it a chance, but they should. Just a little bit. Not all of it.

Been a long time since I was here. There is a whole bunch of anime that I’ve seen, (I’ve never stopped watching anime technically, but most conversations about anime ended up in General) so I’ll break them down into a few paragraphs/bullet points.

JoJo’s Bizzare Adventure:

I have to admit, I haven’t watched the series until about 2 years ago and my only exposure to the franchise was the 90’s OVA of Stardust Crusaders back in the day. I can’t believe that I waited this long to watch this, considering how over-the-top the lore is and the rather creative abilities (Stands) that is presented. Furthermore, while it’s a shonen title, (ran under Shonen Jump no less) it lacks a lot of the Shonen pitfalls that most others fall into, particularly with filler arcs and emphasis with strategy and intelligence over last-minute power ups and simple-minded tricks to foil the bad guys. It’s a definite must-watch as a pinnacle of old school Shonen action series, with a modern style that respects the genre, compared to this next series I’ll mention.

Darling in the Franxx:

Ugh, this is an insult to mecha fans everywhere and worse, to fans of Evangelion and Gurren Laggan. You know a series has gone to shit when you have fans sending out death threats to the Ichigo’s Japanese VA for trying to break up Hiro x Zero Two in story. Never mind the fact that relationship is far less on actual love than it is co-dependency is the least dysfunctional part of this mess. I’m not going to bother spoiling anything, but I’ll say that the progression is absolutely bonkers and whiplash inducing, which seems to be a trademark of Trigger, and partially why I despise them as a studio.

High School DxD:

Normally, when it comes to ecchi/harems, plot tends to be the second fiddle to the other “plot”, but in this case, there is an actual effort to put in a good story with all of perverted hijinks intact. If nothing else, it’s rather refreshing to see an MC be more than a blank slate LN hero and the females are all game for sharing him. (They still get jealous and snarky, but they don’t necessarily go overboard over it) It also helps that it is fully self-aware of being a fan service series compared to the Monogatari series, which thinks it’s more clever than it really is with the writing that would make Vince Russo and Stephanie Meyer look like Shakespeare by comparison.

If you became a servent of Rias Gremory, wouldn’t that be heavenly? (Disregarding the fact that she’s a devil and lives in Hell)

SAO Alicization is coming out as of late. Its a bit slow but its a relatively good adaptation. I can't recommend it for anyone who isnt already a fan though. Its gets better later on with the dark territory war arc I hear.

I'm considering reviewing the novels on MAL and giving my explanation of the themes and character motives that got lost in the adaptation of the first season as well as a reading guide.

The darling in the franxx manga is being written by a different writer from the anime, and is slipping away from the anime's story in order to form a different story (which I still thought was cool despite its flaws and the way it ended). There's already a handful of differences, most of which really do improve the story.

There are a couple of other shows that are like Code Geass in Guilty Crown, (in which they had the some of the production staff from CG and was directed by Tetsuro Araki) and Aldnoah.Zero, (which is essentially CG in space) which the first couple of episodes was directed by Gen Urobuchi. I should probably say that they are both the poor man’s version of Code Geass though, but they’re still viable if you keep the expectations in check.

There is also a trilogy of movies that recap and retell the CG story along with the follow up movie called Lelouch of the Resurrection. I haven’t seen them yet, (waiting for the dubbed version, which should be pretty soon) so I can’t go into much detail about them right now.

Ive heard of both but Ive struggled to find time to actually watch them because of school and work. Ill most likely be adding them to my summer watch list. In terms of plot they probably sound similar, however I'm not sure how interesting the MC will compare to Lelouch. Its pretty big shoes to fill I guess.

I haven't seen the movies yet either, Ill most likely watch them when the upcoming movie becomes available online.

That being said, Ill probably start leaving reviews here starting this summer.

Finished Kaguya-Sama: Love is War shortly after it finished airing. Incredibly fun show, easily in my all time top 10.

Now I'm watching Shirobako and enjoying it so far, an anime about making an anime. It's great as a fictionalized industry BTS thing but it's also shaping up to be one of the best depictions of creative passion I've ever seen in fiction.

also currently watching thru 90's moomins with friends, finished the midsummer madness arc and that was bananas

I marathoned Houseki no Kuni on a whim a few weeks ago. Far better than I expected and perhaps the best CGI I've ever seen outside of mecha.

Not exactly specific to an anime, but I wanted to share.

The Anime Club that my friend and I started at my college this year got officers for the next semester. It's sad that I won't be around to see what the club becomes, since I'm graduating and all. Still, I think it's in good hands! Those new officers are some trustworthy people.

Also, I wanted to ask what the opinion of Crunchyroll is around here. We had to use that for our club, since any torrented anime (That I certainly don't have...) could land the club in hot water if the word got out about using it. But I applied to their "outreach" program and got approved, only to find out months later that the program was "put on hold" a long while ago. You know, even though I could still fill out the form to talk about each meeting. Anyway, my point is that they seem all over the place and like an all around mess. Hell, I still can't even view my private messages on their site. But I digress.

What do you guys think of them?

Tensei shitara Slime Datta Ken Review

"Thirty-seven-year-old Satoru Mikami is a typical corporate worker, who is perfectly content with his monotonous lifestyle in Tokyo, other than failing to nail down a girlfriend even once throughout his life. In the midst of a casual encounter with his colleague, he falls victim to a random assailant on the streets and is stabbed. However, while succumbing to his injuries, a peculiar voice echoes in his mind, and recites a bunch of commands which the dying man cannot make sense of.

When Satoru regains consciousness, he discovers that he has reincarnated as a goop of slime in an unfamiliar realm. In doing so, he acquires newfound skills—notably, the power to devour anything and mimic its appearance and abilities. He then stumbles upon the sealed Catastrophe-level monster "Storm Dragon" Verudora who had been sealed away for the past 300 years for devastating a town to ashes. Sympathetic to his predicament, Satoru befriends him, promising to assist in destroying the seal. In return, Verudora bestows upon him the name Rimuru Tempest to grant him divine protection.

Now, liberated from the mundanities of his past life, Rimuru embarks on a fresh journey with a distinct goal in mind. As he grows accustomed to his new physique, his gooey antics ripple throughout the world, gradually altering his fate." - MyAnimeList.

Story: 7/10 - Its another Isekai, much similar to Konosuba minus the comedy. I figured by watching this show I would have similar vibes, I cannot say that was the case. The story is not bad, not at all. However I wish they kept to the main plot of trying to free Verudoa instead of veering off into sub stories and such that have little to no connection. At many time the main story felt forgotten or that the main character just hoodwinked the storm dragon and left. There were times where the show was very interesting and fast paced such as some of the fight scenes against Geld (I really wished we saw more of the great sages battle mode), however there were a lot of slow moments as well, especially at the beginning and end. I was also disappointed in the last few episodes as they had many interesting developments and options to have taken the story yet they decided to waste our time with filler episodes. The show ends episode 22, don't bother watching the rest for any new developments. At the end you are just left with a incomplete story. If there is no sequel to this season, I would rate the story a 5/10 instead.

Characters: 8/10 - There is decent character and world building. In fact, part of the story is about how Rimuru and other demon lords give names to certain followers bestowing powers on them. Many of these characters have their own backstories and why they have joined Rimuru. We see the development of Rimuru and his abilities and the development of the Goblins, Direwolves, Orcs, Lizardmen. Other countries are later introduced into the story. The world building aspect is one of the stronger categories of this show, unfortunatly due to the 24 episode limit you are unable to see all the character development which leaves the feeling of incompleteness.

Uniqueness: 5/10 - Isekai with the main character being the strongest character. Gee wiz, sound familiar?

Animation: 8/10 - video and audio was pleasing to the eyes and ears. Some of the fight scenes reminded me a little of UFOTable. Not quite there, but it was good. I have nothing picky to say.

Enjoyment: 7/10 - I enjoyed it, at least the episodes where stuff happened. I was left wanting more knowing that they have more to show the audience. But I have to say chief, the last two episodes were a waste.

7/10: Decent, but not Konosuba - It was one of the better shows during the winter anime season. Going into it, I didnt have high hopes coming off Konosuba. It was interesting enough to keep my attention, again my only major regret is the waste of the two episodes at the end. They leave episode 22 on a cliff hanger, and then proceed to give us 2 episodes of filler when they could have continued to story. If you are given 24 episodes only, please just give us the story and stop trying to be like one piece.
