I've been getting into Fruits Basket, it's pretty standard fare with Shojo, but I like the characters for the most part and I find it endearing.

I found the anime of Furuba to be abhorrent. I couldn't stand the english voice overs and it was just lacking compared to the manga. Trust me though, I was presidential advisor in anime club back in high school, I kept telling the prez not to listen to the freshmen and watch it in Japanese. He didn't listen though.
Just told my friend to watch Boku no Pico and sent him a torrent with them.
This is gonna be HILARIOUS.

He could just wiki the title and immediately find out what Boku no Pico really is, you know.

No, I told him that the wiki would ruin the experience. I told him that he had to watch it without prior knowledge.

My memory of Evangelion is rather tenuous, but I thought it had something to do with coming of age and realizing your place in reality and your relation to everyone else. I know that the end was pretty crazy for the show itself, but the Movies explain it better.

It's not so positive on my viewpoint. While yes, they do have a few good philosophical moments, a lot of the time, the characters are either bitching at each other over trivial things, or whining and crying about killing angels and psychological trauma it seems to come with for some reason. Shinji has got to be the biggest wimp ever, considering that most kids his age wouldn't mind if they got on a giant mech and killed those pesky angels.
Multiple times throughout the series, I tried to embrace the story and the overall nuances of Eva, but in the end, I ended up with more questions than answers, and a piss-poor ending to the series which solved nothing about where the angels came from, or any other question for that matter. I'm sure the movies would solve most of those questions, even if they are virtual retellings of the same story by different points of view of the characters.
Just stop worrying, and love the bomb.

Except he really is the biggest wimp ever.
His emotional instability is highly uncommon and were I a psychiatrist, I would admit him to a group home.
He may be human, but the way he acts is nothing like the average adolescent male.

No one ever said the cast of Evangelion were completely sane. Shinji's case may be rather extreme and uncommon, but that's what happens when you've dealt with rejection and a growing social phobia all your life.

I don't know about that, bro. I don't think Ender would've done it if he knew what he was getting into, but neither speak for the majority, right?
Gotta watch NGE again, by the way. It's been a few years and my memory of it is obscured. Ignoring all of the symbolism/philosophy and all that gunk, it's still a great series.

There's also the main character of the first Zone of the Enders game. The mech parts were fun, but I was kinda annoyed by him.
Only saving grace for that piece of dog shit was mai waifu Viola.

I would probably understand having a borderline sociopathic father not being there for Shinji, and the fact that the other 2 pilots are schizophrenic would make anyone lose their sanity, but when the fate of mankind is on the line against those pesky angels, you got to suck it up, tighten your belt, and go out there and kick their ass without whining about it.
Makes me wonder sometimes why heroes in anime today are borderline emo wimps, and not show some courage and stand their ground. Shinji needs a pep talk from someone like Kamina, stat.
Just stop worrying, and love the bomb.

It's quite good IMO. What do you like of it so far? I like the manga better though because of how unique the art style is.
That OP man, THAT OP.

surprisingly heartwarming.
I know there will be at least one more chapter to come out after this one seeing how it's the 20th anniversary of the series. Possibly the first episode of the OVA but I'm probably setting my hopes too high.
I assume you've read the prototype as well?

Malice is my Sword, Rage my Armour & Anger my Shield.
Gunslinger Girl = Awesome.
Hot Loli's, great plot, awesome action.
Needless to say, this series is arousing in all implications of the word.
Watching Hunter x Hunter, pretty cool so far. Wish this was on American tv back when I was a kid.

I loved the manga so much and it's persisting hiatus wounds me :[
I still eagerly wait for future chapters if the author's immune system decides to stop being selfish for once

I no rite! Always nice to see some non-japanese music.
As for the actual show, only seen first episode but yeah I really dig it. Art is lovely (haven't read manga so can't contrast) and character design seems well thought out and such. Looking forward to watching more of it.
I finished Angel Beats.
I'm going to beat up or humiliate the friend who recommended me that. That made me sad and I may or may not have cried.
Definitely a favorite.
Has anyone watched K-On? My friend says it was great and I should try watching it sometimes. I kinda agree. I haven't watched it yet but I read in a magazine that it was great.

If you think this is great then there is something wrong with you, seriously why the fuck do people like this shit?
There is a month before the release of Bathing With Hinako.
Prepare yourselves. I don't think I'll be able to handle it.

It's watchable, but in reality, there's not much good with it.
If you like it though, that's totes cool.
An anime club? Are you fucking serious? Anime is the absolute worst form of entertainment. This shit turns average, upstanding citizens into drooling, monitor-tanned fanboys who are too busy writing DBZ fanfics to finish 8th grade.
Uh, I'm currently watching Ore no Imouto, Yosuga no Sora, MM, and Squid girl or whatever the fuck. There is a serious lack of serious this season.
The last time I gave a shit, I got fucked.

Nope. A friend of mine has and is in love with it. I don't know why though. I just doesn't appeal to me at all. It's just more shitty moe anime and it's not like there isn't enough of that crap to go around this season, or last season.

Overall the past three years for anime have been VERY SHIT.
I cannot be any clearer on this.

It's a complete pile of moeshit. That being said, it wasn't all that bad. First season was very iffy for me; forced drama and shit. Second season was a lot better for some reason that I can't put my finger on, maybe that it was a full season and the drama seemed a little more genuine.
I don't know what the fuck I'm talking about.

You could watch Rainbow instead, I suppose. Although you could watch something better, like Oniisama e...
Love that Osamu Dezaki directing style, it's like Rose of Versailles all over again.
I watched Grenadier a few days ago, and I thought it was good overall. It's similar to Trigun, except with a lot of fanservice, which I thought this was going to end badly, but I was somewhat surprised of the quality of Grenadier, although it's not as good as Trigun obviously.
If you like Trigun, then you can't really go wrong with Grenadier IMO.
