It's a homage to a Flash Gordon song. Many of the things throughout the series are homages.

Inu-Yasha is on my bottom because it has little to no progression at all. I do like it a bit, but it's not nearly as good as people claim it to be. Every episode is the same thing with a different face. Oh, we have to kill this guy! Now this guy. Oh, this guy is in our way! Kill him! Oh, but get a bit wounded for some contrived dramatic tension! Oh, no, here's Naraku! This tangent will SURELY last two episodes!
Every episode is pretty disjointed and the series itself is extremely dragged on. The episode numbers make me fucking crack up. If there were dozens of developments or plot twists, I could perhaps understand. But very little happens and the number is outrageous.
Kikaider, you shouldn't really be insulting. It can tell a story in a small number of episodes and is a remake of an old 60's show. It has an original plot (and don't you try to tell me otherwise. The only thing close is Pinnochio. But Pinnochio wasn't an ass-kicking robot) and has some very melancholistic scenes. In short, eez gewd. Most people don't give it a chance because "it took away my inuyasha INUYAHA 4EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111111111111111111111111111".
Inu-Yasha is pretty good, but not of the highest quality. It has an outrageous number of episodes, though the story could easily be done in a smaller number.
...And the voice acting sucks donkey balls.
