because every one of us can read japanese.
I find it funny how all the DBZ talk is going on now, considering I bought two of the digitally remastered box sets this week. they have been swallowing my life whole since i bought them. hopefully I will be finished soon.

The anime version of Gantz is lame. The manga is far superior.
Bubble shooters that shoot lasers? There's no such thing. The guns send some kind of wave that makes enemies explode from the inside.
As for that movie, it might turn out good like the Detroit metal city film, or bad like the Death note films.

I didn't think Gantz was very good and I hated Kei Kurono, and his whiny dub voice made him worse (though I never heard it subbed before so maybe its just as bad). And the ending is like "fuck you for watching this". However, some of the action is kinda neat.

It wouldn't be so bad if the pacing is so goddamn slow. In Episode 2, Kaito is debating on why he should kill an alien that chopped up 4 or 5 people and is just standing there like some deadhead. The little standoff took so long, I'd went out, made some sandwiches, and when I came back, Kaito was crying a river and the alien was still standing there, doing nothing.
The manga is clearly superior, the anime is a gory, boob-filled train wreck.
Just stop worrying, and love the bomb.

Yeah, the big bleeding vagina. I was actually watching the first couple episodes of Gantz at like 2 or 3 in the morning a couple days ago and I had forgotten how annoying that shit was. I have the whole show recorded on two vhs tapes. I had never re-watched any episodes until then, though.

The manga, I was interested in reading only because of that kick in the balls of an ending, since I heard it continues beyond that. And I heard people get brought back to life, so I was wondering what's up with that.
At 5/9/10 10:25 PM, LaForge wrote: Quick question. When you guys are burning the midnight oil with your favorite series, do you watch the intros and outros as well?
It depends, if I find it entertaining enough I'll sit through it every time, but only if they're changed frequently enough. If a series uses the same intro for an overly long period of time I'll just skip over it.
Also, I just got back from Florida and bought Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner 2 while I was down there.
Still watching anime. Still keeping up with the same shows. My opinion on the current season hasn't changed.
Working is one of the best comedies this season. Fuck what you heard.
Also, slayers is great
I've been reading the manga version of Akira, i'm on volume 3 so far.
I think everybody should read this before watching the movie, because i don't feel like the film provides enough information about the storyline. And we get all these douchebags like Spoony complaining that the movie makes no sense.

I still haven't read the manga, but I loved the movie. I've been wanting to read it for some time now, but I've never really gotten around to it. Is it exactly the same as the movie, or are there any differences in the plot and characters?

Well, it was only $20, so I can't really complain. Also, I liked the other SMT games that I played, so I expect this one to be good too.
Now an epic game for PS2, FF12. Fucking. Epic. Nuff said.
Ugh, I hated FFXII, it was one of the worst in the series. Nothing is as bad as X-2 though, that made me want to throw a brick at my TV.

They weren't produced in Japan.
The correct term is "fauxnime."

It's been forever since I watched that series. Perhaps it's time I break out season one and give it a spin through.
Speaking of oldschool Anime, anyone else remember Magic Knights Rayearth? When I was about 14 it was one of my favorite series. Spawned just about the best RPG game the Sega Saturn had to offer.
Plus Caldina helped quench the furious desire brought about by puberty. <3

Aside from seeing a few episodes when I was a kid, I don't remember much of this Anime aside from the notorious Gundam Mechas. I've met a few people who swear it's the worst popular Anime series, which has kind of deterred me from checking it out...
Mech related, I've yet to watch much of Evangelion despite owning it for so long. It seems as if people either love it or hate it, I've yet to hear someone who wasn't from one extreme or the other.
The character "Gendo" has increased my desire to pop-in the series, as if I were to shave my mustache, age another 20 years, and become an Anime character, I'm pretty sure I'd look a great deal like him:
You guys are old
The oldest anime I can remember watching was probably Cyborg 009 or DBZ
Sorry to bother you guys, but I just had to share this:
I just watched the fifth episode of Lilpri and my jaw hit the floor.
It eerily reminded me of episode 6 of Sailor Moon and why it was axed from the international series.
Thoughts?

Its a lot different from the movie. I won't spoil it, but its 6 volumes/2000 pages total long, and Akira shows up and starts doing things in the second or third volume, while in the movie they didn't show him a lot.
Its a huge story and the film is basically a condensed version.
So even if one has seen the movie, they're not going to be able to predict what is going to happen.

This is a thread for posting in. It's not some sort of city council meeting.
I know it's a new anime series but wouldn't anyone consider Fairy Tail to be a soon to be top tier series right up there with One Piece,Naruto & Bleach.
Hey, have you guys tried this yet?
Can you name Anime by Opening Credits?
I got 47 out of 101 right...

Ooh I read the Manga
It's a great series you should definitely check it out
It's by the author of Rave Master if that rings any bells

I got 42. But one of those I shouldn't have gotten. I tried to write 'Serial Experiments Lain' and for some reason after I wrote 'se' I got the answer 'Soul Eater' right.
And man. Anime theme songs are terrible, aren't they?
I got 45 on the quiz, and I didn't even watch 90% of the anime's I got.
The majority of the time though I read the manga or had seen images from it before
I can't believe I missed Tsubasa Chronicles
I couldn't spell Rurouni Kenshin right either
If it had a lot of little girls I usually missed it, except for Lucky Star, and Sensei Negima

I got 73 and had SO many "D'oh! I should have known that one!" reactions when I was done.
20 minutes is NOT enough time to ID all those anime.

Some are good, some are bad, some are EPIC.
Let this be the day everyone here understands just how awesome Sporcle is

I do this shit every day

Surprised how many I remembered simply from the character designs. I missed a bunch though due to forgetting how to spell some of the titles due to panic.
sjdjdjdjd
Naruto and Bleach where the only ones I remembered by the song and not just the actual characters and style themselves.
They were the only ones I actually watched enough to remember it. Berserk struck me to cause I watched an episode recently.

Yeah there is only like 30 episodes of the actual anime episodes which is about 2 arcs but i tell you it's off to one hell of a start and the fights are quite exciting too especially the Natsu vs. Gajeel fight,if anyone wants to check out a preview or so check out some AMVs on youtube, there isn't much but there are some.
