Kuro is urging me to "sign up" to this club, bah I don't find anything wrong with that. And since I haven't watched much anime other than that english dub of Naruto which is horrid due to the cheesy dialogue, pokemans and Samurai X. I'm going to pick up some dvds in a couple days and I need suggestions. I'm thinking of following Kuro's advice and getting Cowboy Bebop.

Also, I've got this book of manga that is basically hilariously short snippets of an entire manga issue. Which means I've gotten a taste of manga too, suggest some and I'll try looking for some.

Why would I "urge" you to sign up?

I merely said you can sign up to the club if you have a passing interest, since you were going on about looking for something to occupy you, and then proceeded to instruct you not to mention anything about the likes of Naruto, Bleach, Elfin Lied, etc.

I don't "urge" people to do anything.

That dialogue will traslate as the Dave Chapelle's Rick James' scetch couch bit, vervatim. Anyone who claims otherwise is a liar.

I think a lot of people here know what Princess Mononoke is. I'm looking for the piano sheet music to a song in the movie called "Mononoke Hime". If anyone can give me a link to where i can find it, that would be very helpful, thank you.

The laziness of people on the internet astounds me sometimes.

Just finished Ranma 1/2, and I've done something I haven't done in a while.

I cried.

The second the end credits of the final episode finished, I burst into tears.

I don't care how flawed it is, or even how angry some of the worse episodes made me feel, I have never viewed another anime that has affected me this much. I've laughed, I've cheered, I've yelled and now I've cried. It was one Hell of a ride and I wouldn't have it any other way.

At least you're emotions are still intact, it would be lame if you're just watching it but just watching it being motionless.

This must mean I should buy a DVD of it, it must be that good, right? I remember watching it almost everyday when they still broadcasted it. Good times, good times.

I was sort of silent at first, just waiting for the tears, but that song's final note hit me like a brick wall and the waterworks started.

As much as I'm sure club members are sick of hearing me say this, I think everyone should see at least the first two seasons of the series.

Yup, I think that despite all the shortcomings , it really is a wonderful story. Still waiting(and perhaps will always be waiting) for SOMETHING new to come out related to it...
Just in case you have not read the mangas, READ ALL OF THEM. They blow the anime sky high...

In a fit of lame timing, I just got back into the manga today.

On volume 11 now.

Got it. I'd really like to give that wonderful show a good re-watch, I didn't understand a lot of it back then.
Also, how is "Gensomaden Saiyuki" to you guys? Shit, or not? Because I remember loving it when I was younger.

Response to Anime Club 2008-05-23 23:35:46

A while ago, I borrowed the first couple of DVDs of Saiyuki from my cousin and returned them without finishing them. I didn't like it. I can't remember it anymore, though.

So, in my hunger inspired fatigue, I managed to sit in front of a television and watch a Naruto marathon for a little while (I think it was somewhere around the 70th episode, where some guy named Orochimaru was attacking their city).

It seems like it would be an average show, if the teenage/child characters were less annoying/didn't exist, and the show didn't attempt any sort of humour.

The show seemed okay due to the stark absence of Naruto and Sakura for an extended period of time, from when I was watching it.

However, the music was terrible, the voice acting was bad, and the show managed to feel like it was dragging too long, while also attempting to have five or so different concurrent stories playing out, so I got quite bored. Also, the attempts at humour were cringe-worthy.

Though I don't think that was part of the fillers.

Anime I plan on picking up:
Ranma 1/2
Cowboy Bebop
Some FF OVAs, Last Order, to be specific.
Trigun
Gatekeepers
Clamp School ( lol )
Death Note ( lol )

Weed out the shit so I have less to buy.

I wouldn't bother.

Last Order didn't give any new information on FFVII, and instead just relived a couple of flashback sequences, adding in some ridiculous fights.

Anyone ever watch Kappa Mikey on nick? I was with my little cousin, and I was watching the intro and I swear to god I saw Shampoo from Ranma dancing during the intro. I also spotted her in the background halfway through the episode, yet again dancing. So, does this mean that the creators are Shampoo fanboys?

The series is pretty cool, but there's some really jarring off-model animation late in the series. Guess they ran out of budget.

I already said I thought it was watchable enough, due to the lack of input from the main teenage characters (but when they did speak it was quite annoying).

I just eventually got bored.
