Also, WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too much double/triple-posting goin' on here, it's tacky and mostly purposeless.

Here I shoot myself in the foot, ignore the question, I just remembered that forum game.
Anyone read One pound gospel? As someone who went to a catholic school, it seems rather interesting. I wonder how badly the Japanese mess up the religion in it?

I'm not familiar with it. But it can't be as bad as Hellsing.

Ohohoho, old bean, they don't misinterpret religious politics that badly....
It's just that they're working with hollow, out-of-date stereotypes like the "fiercly Catholic Scot".
It's not like your average mangaka actually tries to stay current and realistic with such topics when they're aiming to create an ultraviolent vampire cartoon.
Hell, Kouta Hirano's main inspiration seems to be "The Boys from Brazil", so it's clear the only part he researched was all the random trivia about the Nazi Party's dabbling in the occult.

Because theres nothing wrong with exploding Zombie Nazi's, which bring in those KKK Wannabe's.

Enrico Maxwell wishes he was in the Crusades-era Middle East.
He really does.

Catholic armies, lmao.

That's why I plan on watching more.
It's certainly watchable, and very inoffensive, so watching more will be easy.
Beats generic overlong conversations about relatively simple topics.
Yeah, that stops after a while. The overlong part.
They start changing topic often enough.
I get enough bollocks like that in my day-to-day life, so I hardly find it to be apt entertainment.
Now young children bickering, that I rarely see. Totally fascinating stuff.
I'm confused about this series.
WHERE ARE ALL THE HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS?!
A product of my last half dozen viewed series has left me with an inability to accept change.
Onto episode two.

Still wasn't impressed with what i watched, but yeah. like you said it doesn't get better till later apparently.
At that point I was only watching because it was made by the same people as Haruhi, and I assumed it would get better.
Well, i thought the characters were more likable to be honest. Miu in particular is a pretty amusing character.
Isn't she basically young Tomo?

Watching more has left me confused.
Half of the jokes are deadpan to the point that they don't even feel like jokes.
It hasn't exactly been leaving me laughing out loud.
Also, what's with these weird references to Red Hot Chili Peppers?
There's a ferret named "John", and a dog which I assume is supposed to be named "Frusciante". And it did name drop them at some point. I'd really be more impressed if it was some more obscure band they were referencing, but the Chilis... Urgh.

I haven't read it yet, but I am looking for it in every Borders and Half Price Books in the Greater Columbus area.
Is it like in trinity blood?
If memory serves me right, the premise of this manga is that a middleweight boxer gets fat, bumping him up to heavyweight class (where he doesn't stand a chance), and a nun helps him either lose the weight or get strong enough to compete.
Catholic armies, lmao.
I don't see why that's so funny. The Vatican, being a sovereign city-state, has always had paramilitary forces. Besides, don't you remember the Crusades?
Ha Gendo, I just clicked your sig and it has my anime picture thread in there. I am glad I remember that now, it was very fun.
At 3/18/08 03:53 AM, Kuro wrote: Also, what's with these weird references to Red Hot Chili Peppers?
Yeah, that part is pretty lame. God, what a shite band...
The manga's got slightly more obscure musicians to reference (Aphex Twin, etc.).

Threads like that are always fun.
I finished watching Kemonozume. It was a strange and interesting show. very good. You guys should check it out.

Yeah, that's what intrigued me. It seems to have a good plot, although I wonder if it has any of the humor as Ranma. The fights will be interesting to read, seeing as this is Takahashi's work after Ranma. I wonder if she could truly make a down to earth fight for once...
I just found out about Appleseed: Genesis. Appleseed finally gets a series! I hope it's good (and that it comes to America soon).
Also, I'm going to check out Appleseed: Ex Machina. I really liked the 2006 Appleseed movie, so I figure there's a good chance I'll like this one as well.

Red Hot Chili Peppers used to be alright.
But that was ages ago.
The manga's got slightly more obscure musicians to reference (Aphex Twin, etc.).
I'm not a fan of Aphex Twin either.
Though that video by Chris Cunningham for "Come to Daddy" was pretty cool.
Kuro - Puting the 'Kur' back in 'inkurable disease.'
Three questions.
Why does Anna want to make everyone think she doesn't speak Japanese?
What's wrong with the name Coppola? (I can name a decent few Coppolas (all in film)).
And
Why does watching this show make me feel like a .pdf file?
Kuro - Puting the 'Kur' back in 'inkurable disease.'
oh man guys, I was almost pushed to the edge of manly tears by the ending of Kannazuki No Miko.
Seriously. The scene at the end with her scrap book had me going ;_;
Dykes or not, 'twas a good show.
HypaAaAAAAaaah....!!!!

Alright, answer these qquestions.
What are your five favourite anime?
what kind of anime do you dislike?
What got you into anime?
DO YOU REMEMBER LOVE?
Kuro what is that anime that you said you loved the character in the wheel chair who had that illness thing? Just wondering really. Also is that the same as your sig?
At 3/19/08 01:26 AM, Kuro wrote: Why does Anna want to make everyone think she doesn't speak Japanese?
I think she is embaressed. That or she had no interest in making friends with anyone in the class. I can't recall.
What's wrong with the name Coppola? (I can name a decent few Coppolas (all in film)).
I guess it sounds weird in Japanese

Oh, that's not an anime.
It's just a random character made by some Japanese guy, who managed to get caught by the internet somewhat.

I'll reask my question.
Why does Anna want to make everyone think she DOESN'T speak Japanese, and instead think that she only speaks English, when she doesn't know how to speak it?
