Question: Does this club discuss Manga, too? I'm aware that there is a manga club, but I haven't seen it active in a while.

If so, I'd join in the discussion.

On the topic of Naruto games, I have Clash of Ninja for the Gamecube. It isn't long at all, and has a very limited character choice, but it's the closest thing to Soul Calibur 2 I have.

Maybe to make up for not getting Soul Calibur 2, I'll get Legends once I obtain a Wii.

I have nothing to say that is at all relevant.

Only for while I was in Korea. I am back.

Shin, long time no see. You are not the father of C&C, Wade made C&C because Latinos en Newgrounds and the Final Fantasy Club kept bumping down every other topic in General. Hell if you're back, we can make you an authority figure.

Yes, quite often, in fact.

If so, I'd join in the discussion.

Sure thing.

TIME FOR THE BORING MANDATORY QUESTIONS

1. Five favourite animes and a sentence or two about each (we've always allowed manga under the favourites requirement, so feel free to use them).
2. What kind of anime do you dislike?
3. What got you into anime?

One may notice this is all Shonen Jump, but I'm a kid, so that could be fairly normal.

1: Black Cat

At first glance, anybody could say this is a modern-age Rurouni Kenshin. I would say that the two certainly share one big thing in common- killers that are out of their jobs, to sum it up in a rather poor way. However, Black Cat is more of a comedy than a romantic comedy,

2: HunterXHunter

It's weird, for one thing. I like the concept of Hunters, but what I like the most is all the oddities that exist in HunterXHunter. Maybe I like it because it's so odd.

3: D. Gray Man

It has interesting characters, for one thing. The Millenium Earl is one of the best villians ever.

4: Rurouni Kenshin

I have never seen anybody bitch specifically about Rurouni Kenshin, and I think there's a reson for that. Rurouni Kenshin ended (at I believe, volume 27/8. I haven't read even up to the double digits, kill me, I'm broke.), so it doesn't suffer from Log of Shit syndrome (question no.2). I also like that it includes historical events, people and other such things.

5: Yu-Gi-Oh

Yeah, I know what most people will think . YU-GAY-HO, LOL WUT?? Actually, the story before the whole thing eveolved into TCG insanity is great. I'm not sure why the card game part became so popular; it was originally only a section, but so was the Capsule Monsters chapters. Besides, people's vision being censored and other cruel penalties set upon them by an ancient Egyptian pharoh was much cooler than what's going on right now. Too bad it only lasted 7 books, as far as I know.

2. What kind of anime do you dislike?

I start hating things when they start to become like a log of shit- nobody wants it to be any longer. Basically, I hate shows/manga that sacrifices quality to keep the show going.

3. What got you into anime?

At a certain Middle School, it seemed everybody into anime, so I just melted into the trend. I had a friend who was in my carpool who was really into it, too.

I have nothing to say that is at all relevant.

Especially considering it has gotten decent enough reviews.

I'm sure it wouldn't be that difficult to make a good game with the Naruto franchise, it has all the key ingredients for a game:

Ninjas.

So I can't see why it would be assumed to be bad.

Anyway you filled the form out wrong, this is the form;

1.) Five favorite animes and a sentence or two about each.

oh =/ my bad

1) Sayonara Zetsubo Sensei, Funny, about some emo suicidal teacher and has weird students.

2) xxxholic, i just like how watanuki is a slave

3) Jigoku Shoujo, an anime so popular in Japan, people think the story is real.

4) Dokuro chan, a lovable homicidal angel? me like!!

5) Code Geass, i don't know why i like this...probably because America invaded the whole world.

2.) What kind of anime do you dislike?

Naruto, Bleach. nuff said.

3.) What got you into anime

i work in a shop selling anime/manga, and no japanese don't watch anime =/

Right, so I saw the first three episodes of Ye Olde Hellsing Series. Figured I'd watch that before Ultimate shows up, at least.
By the way, anyone notice how Alucard manages to sound fucking badass beyond all unholy hell whether or not you're listening to the Subbed or Dubbed version?

Response to Anime Club 2007-11-13 05:03:35

Checked out an episode of Bleach (I turned on Cartoon Network, it was on, I watched it for 10 minutes, so sue me).

The episode involved something like some guy named Kenpachi or something had just fought the main guy, and lost despite them both lying bleeding on the ground in different places. I dunno, it was something stupid like that. The guy kept on saying something stupid about "I didn't have a name and now I have a name and I gave you a name but I don't know my swords name oh I remember when I didn't have a name I wished I had a name it was bad without a name I'm glad I have a name now". I dunno, it's unimportant.

Anyway.

Is it just that the voices are absolutely terrible, or would they seem more bearable if the facial animations weren't so bad that any change in tone in the voice seems out of place?

Dub voices are shit....the sub voices seem to fit perfectly, and plus, less stupid censorship. And plus, hearing dub Renji scream "roar zabima(whatever the fuck it's called)" just sucks. What you ventured into Kuro, was one of the older episodes that was halfway decent, which is the only reason I'm noting it. The whole sword thing was stupid though, no matter which way you look at it XD.

So, has anyone seen Technoxlyze(sp)? I'm trying to decide whether to watch it or not. It seems cool, but I dunno for sure, so of course I'm consulting you guys XD. I'm probably going to watch it no matter what, it's just that I want to know what exactly to expect.

Ok, Texhnolyze, or Trigun? I know they're both pretty good, and complex, but I just can't decide which one I want to watch first. I'm neutral on it, not leaning to either.

Shockingly, no, I don't think so.

I know of several others, but I missed the Miyazaki marathon that was on Toonami months ago (Why was I watching Cartoon Network when Courage wasn't on? Boredom can do that.) If I had the oppurtunity, I'd get Howl's Moving Castle.

Here is your problem, stop watching Cartoon Network. There is this new thing called the internet, and if you go to the rights sites; you'll find some great stuff.

I don't watch it, per se. In fact, watching any TV is beyond me unless I have absolutely nothing else I can think of doing.

I've been on the internet far too long not to know I can find just about anything on it, but I prefer to own the product. I'd rather have the DVD than download the movie off of a website.

And you guys say I discuss piracy too much...

Anyway Kurofelis I recommend you watchThe Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya soon, it is short(only 14 episodes long) and very good! Although the episodes aren't in chronological order so if you watch it use this wikipedia article as a referrence.

Watch that anime, all the animes we've suggested earlier and Full metal Alchemist.

After seeing the Anime Club fawn over it day after day, I finally decided to pursue watching Black Lagoon. This season deosn't seem to have any good, new anime...so why not pursue older franchises that I've neglected? I've finished watching the 2nd episode, and I'm impressed. I now see why you guys continually praise it.

Saw it at the film festival a short while ago.

One of the best anime films I've ever seen, but I'm sure there would be plenty of varying opinions about it.

---

I'm just past the 7th episode of Lain (I'm taking far too long with this series), and I'm beginning to believe this show just wants to fuck with me.

It spends far too little time on its ideas (whatever happened to that dead girl that the caption told me it was about?), and seems to constantly want to change what the show is about without telling you anything.

So far through the series the only thing I actually know about it is that it seems to hate the internet, and believe that we are growing too dependent on technology. And so far I'm liking some aspects of the visual style more than the series itself.
